Adopt a theme. 27 clean up of some of the run down buildings & areas QUESTION 2: Please describe the type of place you would like to see downtown Fraser become. 1 I would like it to be a bit bigger than it is. More than just the creek to socialize within walking distance. More stores would be nice. We need more parking though. 2 Sustainably powered, affordable to live, attractive to tourists year round 3 Keep the unique nature of our town, but accept carefully defined commercial and residential growth. Must be pedestrian friendly. 4 I would like to see more trees, landscaping planted around Fraser. Maybe some more music events as well as art shows and more summer events that bring in locals and out of towner’s. 5 parks/trails definitely.... maybe a few more retail/restaurant areas. 6 Well there is only 3 blocks in “downtown” Fraser, depending on how you look at it and there isn’t much that can be done short of tearing down buildings and starting over. I guess I don’t see how the pole hard can be included if it is unincorporated...unless it is annexed in. 7 I would like to see downtown Fraser stay a cozy place that keeps the small town feel but can accommodate the needs of the community. A few more restaurants might be nice but an auto parts store is sorely needed. Beautification of the area is a must and better access to the Fraser River Trail from hwy 40 as well as more pedestrian crosswalks on 40 would make foot traffic better and safer. 8 Fraser needs more nightlife! With our growing transportation system the opportunity to try to get more bars, restaurants and night time entertainment is greater than ever. Walk ability is a great asset that the town has, so combining nightlife into a walkalble downtown will be essential. 9 I would like to see a more coordinated cohesive design plan 10 A place that is more consulated and central as far as businesses and walker friendly. Farmers markets as well as side walk sales that bring the community together. 11 Where people hang out, to dine & shop. Right now it’s just a place to pass right through, go to the grocery store and post office. 12 I would like to see an active mixed use corridor between the river and hwy, including; Housing and business, while maintaining the river corridor open space. Try and maintain historic character of the ‘old town area’ Shopping center type stuff on the Myers Area. 13 I like Golden, Basalt as a model for Fraser. 14 Put in a construction yard (home depot) before you start building. Fix roads first to accommodate more traffic. Need at least 2 lanes with divided highway. During concert this summer and during weekends traffic is backed up to tabernash. Need more low income housing first....otherwise even with more businesses people will have no where to live. Don’t put the cart before the horse. build plan infrastructure first, sewer lines, cable, power, etc Need to fix postal issue...since everyone just outside of Fraser relies on Fraser post office. Need to update addresses in Fraser area so they are somehow in postal system. There are certain websites that will only ship to a home address and since the addresses are not in the US post office data base you can’t order since they won’t ship to po box...ie groupon and others. Would like more bus stops on existing route.. specifically right behind Safeway on meadow ridge hill there are 300 condos. Dirt should be dumped along road and another built 15 Downtown Fraser needs to create and attract new development that bring commerce and people together. Coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, professional services etc. but all building should have a common feel or theme 16 I would like to see the Towns of Fraser and Winter Park work more collaboratively. It is a shame that the economic core of the valley is split into two separate entities. 17 I would like to see a theme in the building code of commercial space to unify the look of Fraser with attractive restaurants and store fronts. The Foundry looks great and is Fraser’s finest building. I would like to see more of that look. The old buildings along 40 look tired, worn and dated. Nicer landscaping and a facelift would improve the look on Hwy 40. New homes and developments are valuable to our community and affordable housing is something to that we desperately need however all housing should be set back from the busy Hwy 40. Grand Park is doing a great job and I like the feel of the homes but they aren’t right on the Hwy. Murdoch and Wendy’s has been a great addition for our community and the shopping center feels alive again. I would welcome more shopping, restaurants and new business’s to the area and create a mountain rustic contemporary theme of building design. Business’s I would like- Safeway gas station, a Costco, a nicer car wash, yummy restaurants, & retail stores 18 A community with lots to walk to - retail, greenspace, restaurants all in a central area. Artist friendly - with space for artists to live, work and sell their work. But also public art of all kinds. 19 I would like to see downtown Fraser develop with a plan that facilitates a common and cohesive look and feel that create a community center for retail shopping and restaurants. This will create a charming mountain town. 20 Nicer looking retail buildings. 21 More vibrant and pedestrian friendly 22 A bit more walkable and pedestrian friendly. 23 Pedestrian friendly, local hang outs of food, coffee, businesses that are in an attractive setting with perhaps old west feeling---and nice landscaping 24 Low key with more focus on historical places. 25 nice family shops and restaurants 26 It seems like a great bedroom community for Winter Park, a nice location for businesses to locate, and a great place for a vocational- technology school or community college or satellite college campus. It’s not set up to be pedestrian friendly, and unless there was some sort of community shuttle between WP and Fraser, I’m not sure it makes sense to set up Fraser as a tourist destination. 27 Basically stay the same as it is now, but with more variety of dining, shopping and housing available 28 A place where skiers in winter and hikers/bikers in summer want to come in the evenings, but not into late night. 29 It should have places that one would like to linger. Small shops, a bookstore would be great, a choice of restaurants. Having a choice of places that are open later would be good, right now there is only the Saloon. The side streets are under utilized could be cute like Georgetown more western than ski town. Steamboat seems to have a good mix on Lincoln avenue. 30 Fraser has already grown to be a great town. Too much growth will transform this town into something it is not. Fraser does not need more corporate America, it does not need more “Holiday Inn’s” or a Starbucks...what next? A GAP? Towns all over America have lost their identity to the corporate world with strip malls filled with their idea of what we want. Remember, Walmart will be just behind the next step of growth. That would be a true disaster. Right now, to me, Fraser is just about perfect. I love the local stores and the feel of a real county town. If anything, helping locals to own and operate local shops would be OK with me. 31 A quiet place, away from the growing hustle and bustle of winter park. 32 Active 33 Currently, downtown Fraser isn’t particularly pedestrian friendly. A nice downtown is a place where one can enjoy different types of activities, without having to get in the car to go from one place to the next. The challenge is that downtown Fraser will never really compete with Winter Park in terms of retail or night life, and it’s probably not a wise investment to try. Nor would it really fit within Fraser’s distinct character. I don’t really know what could be done that would, and it’s hard to know how to achieve a more dynamic public space withing the current low-density. Perhaps more public-access spaces, parks, a skate park, and more integration with the different trailheads that lead up and down valley. Maybe making the Fraser-river trail the centerpiece of a pedestrian area is a better plan than trying to fight the current reality of the highway corridor. 34 Pedestrian friendly hip place where you’d want to hang out. Patio space near the river would be excellent. 35 I live in Fraser and would love to see it become more of a pedestrian friendly place and less of a highway strip town. I’m sick of feeling like I’m risking my life with Hwy 40 traffic every time I cross the road. Winter Park did right by creating lots of crosswalks and pedestrian- friendly “islands” in the middle of Hwy 40 in strategic places with lovely trees and flowers. It helped to beautify the town and put the focus on people, not cars. Fraser should do the same. Right now, there are no crosswalks at all south of Eisenhower until you get all the way to the Safeway crossing, even though it looks like there was supposed to be one between the Headwaters Trails Alliance location and the bank across the street: the sidewalk there even has the crosswalk curb but it looks like no one ever bothered to paint the white pedestrian crossing stripes in the road. People, not cars. Pedestrians, not parking lots! 36 Fun and intriguing. Similar to WP but just not as classy 37 Not a traffic Jam 38 Quaint walking / shopping / restaurant area with a good center park. 39 i would like to see fraser become a place that grows around a more cohesive town center/main street. the idea of a town center/main street has been lost over time due to low quality buildings, and low density construction.the majority of tax revenues are generated by big box shopping centers rather than town-scale development and services. if you look at mountain towns people say are “charming”, they usually have continuity along the “main” streets, with businesses and services like restaurants and shops organized in a pedestrian manner close to the street edge and -close to each other- a configuration usually set up by a framework leftover from the days when cars didnt exist - but it can be built - it takes cooperation and collaboration by land-owners. what wont work is allowing the cheapestmost convenient solution to prevail - if a developer builds a contrived “main street” (just look at buena vista’s “south main”)it will rob the town of what is rightfully theirs 40 ok 41 A vibrant community that compliments our Winter Park neighbors and has affordable housing and small business opportunity for residents. “Compliments” means intertwined and mutually supportive. 42 Nice walkable area to shop with a transit system that gets empolyees and guests of the valley back and forth without further burdening the taxpayers of the valley. Shut down all development of Grand Park, permenantly. Utilize the train tracks for local use, WP to Kremmling. Put a stoplight on Eisenhower drive and county road 8. Get multiple bus stops that look like the ones in WP. Develop in town instead of in the woods, build more retail and less housing. Open more MMJ shops, and close some liquor stores. Fix the failing infrastructure, and get pavement that everyone can use, what you have now is rough. 43 Clean 44 It’s good how it is 45 A community with a good public transit system, high walkability with a few more restaurants and improvement from light and noise pollution. 46 Family friendly and more activitys 47 I like it the way it is 48 Fewer “junk” buildings and more plants and trees 49 Easily walkable, safe to cross the highway, no chain restaurants or businesses, riverfront development that is “green” and ties into the ecosystem, more “natural” parks and open space such as the willow near the confluence of Elk Creek and the Fraser River, viable small businesses, clustered housing development including more affordable condos/apartments 50 Better curb appeal with landscaping. Better sidewalks with flowers and trees. Based on your map, I would like to see two lanes going in each direction on US40 between Winter Park and County Road 8. 51 . 52 Vibrant active walkable recreation 53 a multi-purpose, mostly walkable community for the residents and tourists. I don’t think we should encourage a lot of nightlife, because it is already heavily residential. But more retail stores and restaurants would bring people there to spend money without disrupting the laid back life style. I do think light industry on the fringes of town would make a lot of sense. 54 updated property units, shops and places to eat within walking distance of wonderful parks we already have. more playground area for kids by the fishing ponds would be a great addition. 55 Not a train parking station for the ski train. 56 Unique. The most popular mountain towns are based on their history. Mining, hunting, ranching, railroads, stagecoach stops, hot springs, etc... Fraser offers an incredible history that should be cherished, respected, and promoted. We are a current train stop which is unique and valuable. The top visited mountain towns are thoughtfully planned with respected building codes. They offer a concentrated Main St within town offering a consistent look and variety of shopping, restaurants, and activity. I’m not suggesting another Breckenridge, Steamboat, Park City, or Crested Butte Main St., but a unique look for Fraser... maybe railroad oriented. 57 Fraser needs an update in not only aged buildings but attitude. Face it Fraser is a resort community and no amount of denial will change that. The aged buildings are not something to build the community around at the expense of others but the responsibility of the land owners. Stop fighting your existing businesses that are not “down town”. It’s rude and unprofessional. Think outside the box and work with your businesses and developers. It seems that the status quo of Fraser is just say no if you don’t have a few generations of history and then offer zero solutions. Create a park along the river. Don’t try to be a chamber of commerce, let WP do that. Utilize the open space by the fishing ponds which was not included in the study. Identify and create bike and pedestrian paths through town. Identify an identity. Leaving Planet Earth isn’t it. That was fine when the sign was placed on US 40 in the 80’s as a joke. Take off the blinders and look at the entire community. 58 While we don’t need a copy of Breckendrdge, a similar historic district with a robust micro-economy within the Fraser Valley would be beneficial to the town. A single shot of Breckenridge’s Main Street is a huge driver to their tourism. 59 Just more to do like night life and less dirt roads. 60 Shopping and restaurants, easy and fast public transit. Become more inclusive with the Chamber and get events happening on this end again. 61 Fun and funky shopping with great restaurants. A brew pub would be great. I think that Fraser could use a face lift. Not to change the character, but to spruce up the town. 62 I wish we could xcountry ski from old town fraser to safeway and the crooked creek. I wish there was more snowmobiling from town to the trails-affordable rentals with good maps to tour ute pass and st louis creek. A skate park would be nice because it is so far for the kids to get to winter park, and it’s often crowded. Horses used to get tied up at the Crooked Creek, I am told. A proper Christmas tree and or parade/event would be nice. We don’t do anything except Picnic in the Park, which is nice. I wish we could get some legit music up in here. I wish we had a haunted house/trail. Snow sculptures would be nice. Legit nature hikes with flower and bird identification. 63 Pedestrian and bike friendly downtown, utilizing the natural amenities enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, such as trails and the Fraser river. 64 Unique mountain/western town with more restaurants, retail, and area to walk around. 65 I would like to see Fraser be the locals town. Winter Park is nice, but Fraser could be the town that you see your friends at. Create a nice park behind One Love, encourage more development in the heart of town and away from Murdoch’s shopping center. 66 I picture Sedona Az. Small shops with unique personalities coffee shop ice cream shop candy shop gifts leading down to the Fraser river where there is a boardwalk with benches picnic tables along the river One love is the kind of feel or vibe I would like the area to still have that small town feel. 67 Able to walk around, shop and eat 68 More centralized gathering places for things like music, and better transportation from residential areas to such centralized gathering places. 69 Clean, modern, positive appeal 70 Some more slightly upscale restaurants and retail 71 There should be a public space surround with mix use - retail/ restaurants on the ground floor and housing above. There should be public transit linking this to the town of Winter Park and the Ski area. 72 I see a vibrant downtown with shops and restaurants on the street level and housing above. We need more people in order to make a sustainable business community. We need attainable housing for our work force and market housing. In order to make Fraser viable from a developers perspective we will need to provide some incentives. These incentives will need to included addressing our water and sewer tape fees, parking requirements and stream lining the building process. There may also need to be some tax incentives for the commercial. 73 Friendly, quaint, walkable. Not overly-developed and commercial like some mountain towns. Good community space that takes in the views. 74 There’s no life in Fraser besides Safeway and Murdochs. The restaurants are ok but lack signage to let travelers know they are there at. The only bar in town is scary most of the time. They try, but the Creek will always be the creek. The look of the area is that of despair, lost hope and is hodgepodgey. There is a lack of attraction to make anyone want to stop. 75 Walkable, nice stores and restaurants and we also need low income housing. The town should coordinate the architecture so it looks like it has som semblance of order and not a hodge lodge as it is now... 76 a 77 Cute and eclectic with some services, retail and local housing with walkability to this area. 78 Pedestrian friendly. Keep view corridors. Take out old Bottom Line building and adjacent blue one. Good walkway to Safeway along 40 Landscaping along pedestrian zones - perennial beds and trees Traffic light at Eisenhour. 79 a more vibrant, walking town, day and night. somewhere to go and do things. focus on tourists and locals. 80 test 81 A core down town were people can have a shopping experience and housing for those that work in the area. 82 Highway 40 will always divide the old downtown area. A bypass would be unacceptable to business people and probably CDOT. So to make the downtown walkable, you will need a pedestrian walkway either over or under the highway. I think Elk Creek is the ideal place to tie the two sides of the downtown together through a pedestrian underpass walkway. A traffic signal will also be needed at CR8 so surface pedestrian crossings could be easily made at both ends of the old town business district. CR72 and CR8. Both sides of the highway could then develop as walkable space with pocket parks with shelters and off street parking to allow pedestrians to function with out their cars. Perhaps bus/train station style lockers could be provided for temporary storage of purchases to free up a restaurant experience. 83 Shopping district srip malll with walnart stores chipole panda express etc 84 Pedestrian, bike friendly 85 Connected retail/restaurant, housing taking advantage of the river access for both business and pleasure. Connected retail areas of large and small, big box/neighborhood mom and pop’s. 86 . 87 Become more inviting. Not to be identified by a gas station 88 A nice restaurant with a outdoor deck adjacent to the Fraser River instead of the existing trailer park. Shops that would encourage foot traffic. 89 . 90 I would like it to be a place where travelers driving through on hwy 40 feel like they need to stop and spend money in our town. 91 An inviting down town area, with more cute retail shops that would draw people to come hang out. Public areas that feel safe and inviting, for example a dog park or regular park with benches for relaxing. I would like to see downtown grow but keep its small town feel. I believe the town could use more flow. the business are a little chunked into sections, instead of having one fluid downtown area. 92 Stay the way it is. 93 Preserve and enhance historical aspects. Create unique historical arts district on Eisenhower Create different business zones that are appropriate to existing business and future needs. 94 It needs the valuableland that is now wasted space along hwy 40 to built up into retail, restaurants, A park. 95 A walking vibrant community. It should include history and arts. Architecturally, building fronts coordinated for a unified look. An environment for locals, but one that would be desirable to visiting family of all ages. 96 I would like it to have more walkability...mom and pop shops and restaurants. 97 A place for both locals and tourists to enjoy. More foot traffic would be nice and would make the town feel more energetic 98 Clean, sustainable. 99 Small events in a nice open space would draw people; people would create demand for restaurants and other shops; as these shops came into town more people would come. A park/sculpture walk or something on Hwy 40 to get people to recognize Fraser as a spot to stop. 100 I like it the way it is. 101 I like it moving toward something like Frisco in Summit County -- a real town not just second home ski condos and bars, but a bit more upscale and busier would be nice. A bakery would be great! 102 I would like traffic to want to stop in Fraser and walk around to explore rather than flying through our town. I would like to see more retail and restaurant options. I would like to attract more year around businesses. 103 I would like to see downtown Fraser focus on walking score and a community feel. Somewhere you would park and mill around for something to do/find a bite to eat, enjoy a park. It would be nice to eat outside without feeling like you are on a highway -nose in parking, reduce speed limit, raised parking, no passing lane in town. 104 a vibrant community with opportunities for business to develop and grow with the community. I believe securing the Pole Yard property would be a fantastic move for the town. It would in essence connect Town to the Fraser Valley Sports Complex and provide for an awesome recreational land planning opportunity. Engage the FVMRD with Town land planning discussions to make sure that community needs are being addressed. 105 More attractions to draw more tourism. Restaurants, shopping, parks etc. 106 More walking friendly. Need more patios to eat on not on US 40. Paved parking. Not set up diagonally. 107 Can we get a light on county road 8? Rounded out gets a light for the 17 millionaires that live there? Really? Ever tried pulling out of there around school time? 108 More of a shopping district with restaurants that people can come and spend time in the area. I like the idea of cooper creek, but hate the building layout. It would be better like an open shopping center 109 We need high density housing that is affordable. This will get people living downtown. We should allow for 4+ story buildings full of studios and 1 bedroom apartments. Then we can get more people going to the retail, etc. 110 I really think that it would be great if we could become more walkable and cohesive. Fraser is very broken up and difficult for tourists to walk around. I know it isn’t really feasible, but I think the idea of Crested Butte, where all the shops face the main street and it is very walkable/bikeable is a great idea. 111 Small mountain town with an identity and central theme to appeal to tourists. Think Idaho Springs or Ouray. Use grant money to fund store front renovation to a central theme. 112 I would like to see more choices in dining and perhaps a dog park that people could gather in with their dogs. And most important is more affordable housing. 113 Artsy 114 A vibrant community of the people who live and work in the area. There simply aren’t affordable places to live that are on the major bus lines. We need more employee housing. 115 Updated Restaurants with retail and a variety of housing; not like the old ones that are there. (These just need to be cleaned up) Some open space for kids to play with a dog run. No junk cars on main street or cars in repair. No cars/trucks blocking signs. Needs to be made fresh and not run down. Make it a safe place that people with families want to come with no marijuana stores on main street or can be seen. One Love does bring new life to the area. 116 Small yet proud town developing as Colorado grows. Maintain core values of nature, activities and personal freedoms. Do not allow too much outside influence, but also stay on top of cultural advancements to promote a ‘grassroots’ competitive business nature. Would there be a theme? Not sure I even understand this category. Downtown parking for who? The Creek has plenty. Sharky’s seems to take up a lot of Byers Ave and people block and turn around in driveways. Since Fraser plows the Bank, they should allow Sharky’s parking as compensation. 3 Change codes to increase the likelihood of developing more mixed use commercial and residential apartment above in downtown!!! Historic building are what define Fraser and its sense of place. 4 Public art becomes part of the landscape, include in the community center an Art Museum for traveling shows and local artists. 5 Roads, faster free internet 6 We have great trail systems in Fraser. I would allow UTVS, and Snowmobiles on roads if people are on the way to a trail system. 7 Housing is important but this should be done outside of downtown where land is less expensive but within walking or riding a bike distance 8 YES YES and another YES to making Fraser more pedestrian friendly. More crosswalks, pedestrian islands with more of those lovely Fraser flower gardens, river access....all great ideas! 9 Focus on a great town center/main street - capitalize on the River! extend main street to the River! imagine shops and cafes that front the fraser looking at the divide. the opportunity will be taken away if a big development builds a contrived “main street”.. 10 ok 11 The signage was just redone, and very poorly at that. Hire a better company if you’re going to spend tax payer $. Bring WP customers to town, and make it easy for them. Stop building housing, and build or renovate existing retail to give the customers more choices. Bring 4th of Jult back, and get more events like it. Don’t create art by comittee, that new bus stop does not represent Fraser history AT ALL. Make WP house their own temp employees, so that actual Fraser locals have a home. QUESTION 3: 12 Easily walkable. Walkways linked to trails along rivers and in national forests. Make Fraser funky with art and history. More housing so people are actually living in Fraser rather than the surrounding condos and trophy home neighborhoods. More businesses in downtown rather than in undeveloped outer areas. Fraser is perfect for a walking town. It has a river, historic highway frontage and historic buildings and willowed wetlands right downtown. Build on those strengths. 13 We need to embrace who we are and not try to be another Winter Park or Steamboat. Industry is fine as long as you make it look nice with landscaping and more modern architecture. 14 Odd mix of options. Most should not be addressed. Don’t restore “historic buildings” being old does not equal historic. This list screams of short sighted ideas and creating a divide among locals and your current businesses. Think bigger picture. It’s not “down- town Fraser” it’s all of Fraser. Downtown Fraser is not the center of the universe. 15 Pedestrian, and Xcountry skiing friendly sidewalks would help. It’s probably time to think about Stop lights or signs on 40, too. Pretty sketchy trying to cross at Eisenhower and the post office and cty rd 8. 16 I don’t understand the efforts put into the fraser river trail like a trailhead away from town. Also don’t understand the trailhead for Fraser to Granby trail. Those do not seem like a high priority when you have undeveloped lots in the middle of town? 17 Fraser needs to focus on our two biggest assets, the Fraser River and Hwy 40 frontage. Fraser is a fun and funky town and that whimsy needs to be preserved. Fraser is rich in history but unfortunately there are few buildings with historic significance that should be preserved. Fraser needs to work with CDOT to widen Hwy 40. The Eisenhower intersection could be an ideal roundabout. Making Fraser more walkable will lessen the need for increased parking. 18 Make the train horn stop! The disruption due to the train is detrimental to any outdoor public activity in the area. If the Amtrak stop was built to look attractive and inviting instead of dirt, weeds, and cigarette butts, it would provide a much more aesthetically pleasing area for all locals and travelers. 19 Actually I tried to label all of the above 10, 9, and 8’s....they are all important!!! 20 It is tough to rank this in this order because I fell all are important in helping with revitalization. 21 Business will come as the town improves. 22 test - do not count in survey 23 The sidewalks and pedestrian access and crosswalks seem adequate for now. Our history is very important and should be representative of that history. Maintaining historical buildings(what we have left) should be preserved. Maybe creating each building along 40 to look like an old western town would be an awesome idea and maybe a draw for visitors. We need to think outside the box...and it seems as though you are off to a good start but wider sidewalks? Not!!! Housing along 40? Bad idea. Save space along 40 for businesses...not housing. More downtown parking? Depends on what you are calling downtown. Everyone seems to forget there are residential homes in what you are considering downtown. Is the plan to run them off so the business zoned areas all become businesses so the town can generate more tax income? 7 Enhancing foot and bike traffic is very important to me. Love the Fraser River Trail. 8 The iconic buildings around Fraser are what define the town and describes its sense of place. Walk ability and the use of non motorized vehicle plays a big role around town and also regionally. More nightlife. Locals and visitors are looking for something to do that doesn’t involve having to head to our neighbor to the north. Mixed use utilization increases revenues and densities in our desired location of downtown. 9 I think it’s important to create a sense of town that doesn’t just line Hwy. 40 10 Because it made us put a value on everything differently rather then been able to give some stuff the same pryority 11 Don’t put the cart before the horse..fix existing problems or at least PLAN how to fix first. 12 Redevelopment and attracting new business is key. This will create a community center where you can go for food, shopping, professional services. If this is condensed enough, then you would be able to park and walk from business to business. This will create revenue for the town and drive further thoughtful development. Housing is important but should not be on be behind the primary street front locations. 13 Fraser has the space along Hwy 40 to allow more commercial development and bring in new modern designed buildings which will bring people to Fraser for shopping and dining. The new bus system will be easy access for people staying in hotels in Winter park to enjoy Fraser’s new developments. New business create additional tax revenue and jobs. Creating a theme like mountain rustic contemporary, or Grand park style, will unify the look and feel of Fraser. Why do people love Breckenridge or Crested Butte these communities have created a common feel through the town and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Part of Fraser downtown feels run down, tired, and worn and feels like a less desirable place to be in. Homes along Hwy 40 are a terrible idea because of traffic problems and some of the homes that are close you can’t control how some one landscapes or junk left sitting in the yard. Events are important for community- concerts, trick or treating, wine tasting, etc. & bring more people 14 Downtown Fraser lacks any real “center.” There is no portion of the town that draws pedestrians. I think Fraser would be most improved by having a dense section of town with lots to do. Pedestrians should be able to get out of their car in downtown Fraser and spend the whole day walking from attraction to attraction - whether its restaurants, trails, shops, museums or public art. 15 I feel that it is most important to develop downtown with a plan that attracts new business. If done correctly, this will create a town center feel that will have a similar look and feel and will ultimately deliver sustained revenues to the town that can me used to continue development of better parking, pathways, roads, etc. I also think you could create a trail access to downtown that would allow motorized access with snowmobiles and UTVs etc. The more you can do to draw people to repeatedly visit this downtown center, the more revenue this will generate. 16 We need to revitalize business and the look of downtown. 17 Fraser could be a great destination 18 Want to make Fraser more attractive for people to stay and spend their money there rather than going to WP and spending it there. 19 I don’t think the town should be involved in more housing projects--the ones presently are abysmal. And it’s a ridiculous thought that you are going to attract businesses to Fraser when sales tax is 9.9%. that was a stupid stupid move and makes us just ship our packages and buy things elsewhere. That needs to be repealed ASAP. 20 It would become too congested. 21 It may as well be used and will look nicer 22 There is a lot of history in Fraser, and preserving that along with building knowledge among residents and visitors gives the area meaning and creates a shared sense of community. I think that is the number one thing that Fraser can do to enhance its long-term viability. 23 Don’t like seeing good people pushed out by greed. 24 The housing outside of the project area is pretty ugly and I think housing in downtown isn’t that important. Making the hwy 40 corridor vibrant with business and eating will help bring nicer housing to the periphery of that area. Development follows jobs. 25 Right now lack of zoning enforcement -unsightly trash accumulated on properties make it hard to look past that and enjoy the unique location views afforded by Fraser. It has enormous potential does not have to be glitzy just tidied up. A better choice of restaurants would be good to attract more people. 26 It is a slippery slope. What is the real reason for redevelopment? Is it to make a few people a lot of money or to enhance the entire community? Do we really want more traffic? What towns already exist that we want Fraser to be like? Would that be a really good thing (for the average Fraserian?) I am all for local growth and a clean, green and art filled downtown. I am anxious about non local growth and the degeneration that that brings. Fraser is a great place because it is not like most sold out American towns. I am happy to drive to another county to visit a big box store and all their problems. It is even better to drive home and realize what we have! Once you go down that route of needing corporate America money, you can never, ever ever go back. 27 No comment 28 Building on the unique asset of the Fraser River Trail works from our strengths; this seems like a better approach than focusing on what is lacking (density, a ped friendly highway corridor). 29 A lot of properties need to be cleaned up. 30 I love Fraser. But I hate feeling like I’m second tier to highway traffic. The new signs are worse than the old ones, and the biking trail kiosks are rediculous. Spend more time approving something instead of rubber stamping the crap that’s being churned out now. The transit system could be wonderful here, intead it is at best 2 busses per hour with zero cohesiveness regarding what a stop should look like. It should be easy to get around, why would anyone shop in Fraser if it’s a pain in the ass to go 2 lousy miles? 38 Needs more dining 39 Just how I feel 40 i’d have to be able to go back and look at the lineup before I could accurately explain. I think housing is very important. it is hard for employees to find housing. I think being connected to downtown WP via a bike path not next to the highway would be very nice. Not sure we need more parking most everything is walking distance to the bus station. 41 Opinion 42 Housing developments and big box buildings will not be an attractive feature for Fraser. 43 Builds on town’s existing strengths. 44 I explained it in the last comment section. 45 , 46 It is underutilized. Could be much more to see and do, like WP or even Granby. 47 I tried to think about what would bring more people through town and making Fraser more than an afterthought to Winter Park. There is very little shopping and dining in Fraser, and I would love to see more. 48 parking and directions are not an issue, so they were ranked low. “community art” can be favorable, or not, depending on the eye. I honestly think the bus stop in front of sharkys is ugly and don’t want more art like that. Improving access and updating and restoring buildings to attract business is most appealing. Housing is also a need. 49 We need to make the town work better with those that already live here before building new things. 50 I sell ski trips and mountain vacations all over the world for a living. People ask all the time for a low key resort where their family can spend quality time together without all the bells and whistles. A lot of times, they are coming to see snow for the first time. They look more for fire pits they can sit around for hot chocolate and roast marshmallows and do experiences they’ve read about in Christmas books or watched in Christmas movies. Let Breckenridge keep all the party animals. We should consider offering unique activities people can’t do anywhere else. Organic snow/mountain activities. 51 There were little options. Creating a community feel with paths, a river park and similar would go a long way. Include the Ptarmigan area as that has as many people living in it as “downtown Fraser”. I would have ranked everything below 7 as a 1 if it was possible. 52 Without breathing life with people and businesses, a downtown cannot survive. 53 Not sure, but anything is better than nothing - which is currently how Fraser rolls. 54 Fraser does not need to build more housing, we need more businesses and customers. We need more effective transit and equal billing in the Chamber 55 Improved “curb appeal”, will make Fraser a place that people will want to stop and eat or shop while they are driving to Grand Lake 56 It’s such a cute town, but walking is hard with the lack of sidewalks on the school side of town. The drainage pans make it even more awkward. Making places fun to get around gets people out walking, meeting their neighbors, putting energy into a place. One you create flow, you get flow. The historic buildings are quaint and warm. They make Fraser feel established and speak of the town’s character. Newer buildings could easily be made to fit this character, but it’s been a free for all on design and now there is no unity or vision. We are a hodge podge of Historic, trailers, 70’s 80’s 90’s builds. If we had a tiny house community, people could rent the space and hook ups from the town (or whoever) and start out small. The cheapest thing up here is like $100k, and for many young people that is so out of reach. But a $10k-$20k tiny house is a chance to start building equity for a life above poverty level. 57 Pedestrian crossings and connections to the Fraser River would help make the town more walkable, and take advantage of a major amenity - the Fraser River. 58 There needs to be a reason for people to come and stick around (ie businesses). As a result, Fraser is very vulnerable to decisions made by neighboring communities. The opening of a new grocery store in Winter Park will impact our revenues significantly. I believe that we need a comprehensive plan for the redevelopment of downtown Fraser. We need to assemble the property and have a vision. I am very concerned about the proposal for mini homes. This would be a tragedy for the community. This is a commercial area and it needs to generate sales tax revenue. In addition, Fraser is also the logical place for affordable and attainable housing. We should be working with Winter Park to provide housing for our work force not competing with them. If we allow old town Fraser to be redeveloped in a piecemeal fashion we will have squandered our future and our responsiblity to be good stewards of our valley and its history. 66 Increasing people to the town center will enhance the sense of community and doing things such as making it more pedestrian friendly and adding parking will allow people to visit with ease. Retaining the history is critical too - people love Fraser for it’s history and amazing beauty. 67 Housing is of greatest importance here, affordable housing that is. Fraser needs to figure out what each area’s attributes and resources are and help the private sector develop them. Trying to compete with the Ski Area base area or Downtown Winter Park is not the answer. I tried to mix based on cost also with short term versus longer term planning. 84 We have a great start with The One Love restaurant, now if we could get a couple adjacent trendy business, so there is more that one reason to stop. 85 I do not think it is as important as increasing the housing options in Fraser. 86 Housing is the #1 factor effecting local residents and business owners - if employees can’t affford to live here, we will have no one to run our businesses or support businesses year-round. 87 Get people to stop in town and the rest will take care of itself. Only if there is substantial private development would you need additional parking. The town should not pay for development in any way. This includes updating private buildings. 22 Safeway, Library, Eisenhower (bus side of the tracks), the Creek, the Post Office, etc. Not enough parking on 40 either. Wendy’s drive thru is not good, and Ski Broker is hard to get to. Turning south on 40 from Co Rd 8 is not very safe. Driving is scary enough but people are always trying to cross there too. Traffic is getting heavier. 2 better than it could be - but speed enforcement on US40 would help 3 Amazing potential in my opinion. The trick is to maintain the unique character while inviting commercial growth. That is why i keep mentioning Architectural design standards that are needed and detailed limits on signage. 4 I believe we have very good biking, walking trails, best in the country. Great trails, well marked and not very busy, We love that. Driving around Fraser is good, and easy. We would like to see Cramner Paved!! 5 I live on Eisenhower and getting everywhere easily and safely is fine... except when there’s school traffic or in the winter when the streets narrow. Would like to see more trails as an alternative to walking/biking on the streets. Driving down main street I never use the right lane - seems pretty close to the parked cars. 6 I love it. We are a small town with unique features. We have the Fraser River trail that helps get from one end to the other. I could see that getting widened as more and more people use it to get to Safeway and such. It is safer than navigating along 40 where traffic goes through town entirely too fast. 7 Not enough crosswalks on 40. Cars travel too fast thru town for foot traffic. No footpath/bike lane on 40 in front of hotel. Signage is not good to take you to Fraser River Trail and some accesses are not visual appealing. Walking on East side of 40 the sidewalk is very narrow across from gas station. Good thing the mountains are beautiful as there is not much about the town that draws your eye. 8 I walk and bike frequently only hopping in the car for long distance errands. In the winter time (more prevalent) I will typically drive more often. Waiting for the night bus in the middle of winter to head into Winter Park is disheartening because Fraser could jump at the opportunity to create a more experience driven economy and keep bus rides short and in town. 9 Mostly just pull off Hwy 40 for brief shopping. Very little walking done in Fraser. 10 Perrty good 11 Would like to see another bike / pedestrian crossing over railroad tracks to continue over st Louis Creek road...path would continue across 40 to Fraser River trail. Things are spread out, with lots of non-commercial builds among them. It doesn’t feel like a destination. 15 Today, I rarely walk or bike around downtown Fraser because there are not enough business to visit to get me spend the time. I do drive into Fraser but mostly to visit a store and then drive back out. Walking along the highway is not particularly pleasant, especially in the winter when the sidewalks are more a place for sand and salt and dirty snow to get pushed than a place where walking is pleasant (as in downtown WP). The rail right of way also makes walking from place to place inconvenient; if you want to walk from the post office to the library, for example, you have to make a long roundabout. Biking is much easier as ultimately, downtown is pretty small, but if you live on the hill above Fraser, the climb seems to discourage many would-be bikers. Driving is no problem. 29 People drive too fast, think it’s part of the highway with an annoying little town stuck in the middle. Might need blinking pedestrian crosswalks. It doesn’t help that the speed limit coming from the north is 65mph. 30 I feel like I’m playing Frogger whenever I cross highway 40. (For non-computer game people, the object of the game is to direct frogs safely across a busy road and navigate a river full of hazards.) It is frustrating to step onto Highway 40 --even at a crosswalk-- and not know if the truck barreling down the road is going to stop or not. There is no “safe” spot in the middle of the road, like the pedestrian islands in Winter Park - you just have to hope the cars see you and slow down. I enjoy biking along the river trail to the Post Office, restaurants and/or other areas, but the pathways from the trail to town are weird. They go along back alleys and make me feel as though I am trespassing, even though I’m not. 31 Boring but enjoyable 32 Its not pleasant. People are always riding on the sidewalks. Bikes are NOT pedestrians. Should be a dedicated bike route that actually connects to the FTG and Fraser River Trail. Stoplights should be located in downtown, not just so developers can access their high dollar properties. 37 Asphalt rocks are to big for small wheels. Drain pans going across roads are super deep and in some cases delapidated. County road 8 is pretty beat up. Eisenhower drive has had a ton of construction, with very few results. Bus stops are not easy to find. School and library are easy to access for families, but only to those on the West side of the tracks. Safeway costs way to much. Wendy’s drive through is unsafe. Stoplights at Grand Park and Rendezvous make it impossible to get on the highway during a powder day. Snow removal is actually pretty good, but very loud. Ski Train parking in Fraser is loud and stinky. Area behind One Love is underused. 38 Parents dropping their kids of at school is a danger to Fraser pedestrians. They are awful drivers and once their kids get dropped off they don’t care if they run you or your dogs over! 39 Don’t live in Fraser 40 when the weather permits I ride my bike and walk to many locations in Fraser from our house on Carriage Road 41 Train is wat too loud and kinda hard to cross hiway 42 Other than walking to the post office, or driving thru, there is no downtown Fraser to speak of. The only times I have trouble driving around Fraser is on busy weekends, but the new turn-out lanes from County Road 8 and from Bank of the West have helped. I’d like to see US40 be two lanes from Winter Park to County Road 8. I think that would eliminate much of the traffic issues we have at busy times and perhaps the US Dept. of Transportation would pay for this project to aid public transport of supple and materials. 45 There is nothing to walk or bike to as there are no resteraunts, business, playgrounds. There is no compelling reason to walk in Fraser because of the lack of commercial vitality that would encourage you to walk down Hwy 40. I think the only people who walk in Fraser are ones who don’t have a car. Driving thru Fraser you miss the Outdoor Activity Center aka the Fraser Visitors Center even when you are looking for it--and more signage is not the answer!!!! 66 With the busy road downtown it isn’t walker friendly. Wider sidewalks and bikeways would help. It doesn’t look very lively or as welcoming as it could to encourage you to stop and play. I use the fraser river trail to go to safeway, and the sidewalks to get around town, where I feel safe and the views are nice. The town does a good job with the flower beds in the summer. In the winter, I do have issues with the sidewalks getting clutter with many feet of slush, which makes it hard to walk through. I like growth. It is necessary for success. However I would like the smallness of the com- munity kept in consideration. Fraser is still unique and old school. I would like that to be perserved. 2 Look up Seaside Florida for the best development plan in the country in the last few decades. 3 Water should be a the biggest concern when planning any of these areas. I have seen our rivers at their lowest this year and when Clark starts developing the meadows I am terribly afraid our aquifers will dry up and we’ll end up a ghost town. We can’t just keep developing to generate more money so town staff can have larger pay scales and have the streets cleaned more often. (Kudos to whoever made the cut back on the street cleaning...what a huge waste of money in my opinion) I urge you to really consider our future moving forward...more importantly, the future of the children. We need a large community garden, a community recycling center, and we need to stop killing off our native animals such as the beavers. Trap them and relocate. Stop the killing. And I really think if all businesses in Fraser did an “old West” theme on the fronts of the buildings with horse posts, people would make Fraser a destination. That is our heritage!!! 4 My response to this questionnaire was interupted by computer malfunction for several days. I assume my earlier comments were not erased by the malfunction and interruption. However, I reiterate Build a Community Center for people to mingle 5 Would be a great idea to incorporate additional access methods for downtown. Better bike & walking path, motorized access for ATV, UTV which are becoming a recreation that is driving a lot of tourism. Very important to control or guide the look and feel of the development so it all fits together. Basically better guideline control over the esthetics of the buildings. 6 1. No common theme in building design and development- current buildings look out of place and a mix mash of random commercial spaces. 2. The old commercial spaces make the town feel uninviting and unpleasant to drive by 3. Lack of community feel - more Fraser events, flowers, landscaping, retail and restaurants will help. 4. We have some of the best trails in the county - trail maps, allowing UTV’s, snowmobiles to access trails, a better toy car wash, non etha- nol fuel could be a way to revitalize and bring more people. Think Moab and Grand Lake. 5. The summer concert at the tubing hill was the coolest event Fraser has ever had. Large events like this are great for our town. 6. We have open space and if development along Hwy 40 is nice and has cool retail, restaurants and services we have the potential to be nicer than Winter Park. I love The Foundry and it’s design. I can’t wait for the Grand Park Village. 7. Widening Hwy 40 to ease traffic problems & more stoplights 7 I could not navigate back on the survey so was concerned that I did not get the first question or two correct on the development of specific areas regarding the overall project. Here is what I think. Along the main street of Fraser you want to focus on attracting new business, to develop new and attractive properties that have a common look and feel to the downtown area. As you get to the ends of downtown and behind the main streets you can mix in commercial mixed with housing options that bring more people central to downtown. A hotel would be another great option. 8 It would be great to see Fraser improved to attract more business to the community. Would want to somehow address light pollution in the Fraser Valley and means to diminish its impact if additional development is added. It’s nice to see the stars at night. 9 We already have enough empty retail spaces and this is what gives the town the “ghost town” out of business feeling. Fraser feels like a failure and it’s because of the high rent charged for these junkie places and the high sales tax which prevents anything from succeeding. Everyone shops online these days, so I don’t know who you think can afford to run a business up here. Most people are barely squeaking by on their salaries and go to Denver to buy necessities at Costco, Target, Walmart~I say bulldoze the entire town and just landscape it nicely. don’t throw more bad money at an already sinking proposition. Bob Fanch and Clark Lipscomb will continue to build new beautiful places (that you can’t compete with) where people will want to hang out. Not in some dumpy run down freezing cold dives which describes every single building in Fraser. Let capitalism prevail!!! Government involvement only wastes tax dollars and quite frankly, none of you are smart enough to handle it. 10 Take any decisions slowly because it will impact the entire community. 11 Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side. That we have “problems” now. “Things” must be fixed. Please do not make changes just to change things or to spend tax dollars. Instead of tax dollars going to traffic lights, I would rather see college scholarships and trade school funding. Help with local business to run correctly. and encourage local self worth. Lets keep things green and clean, local and low key. I would hate to see starbucks and all the other corporate America think that Fraser is a good place to soak money from! Long live the Fraser of today!!! 12 No comment 13 We can’t just replicate downtown Winter Park, though that’s obviously attractive and some elements of it would be nice. For better or worse, Safeway is one of our main downtown attractions and our “anchor”. It’s what brings a lot of people to town from both up and down valley. But Safeway is a bit far in walking terms from the other downtown attractions (Ace, Icebox sports, and the main street commercial found in their vicinity, as well as from the library and school, which are anchors for the residents of the town). So the challenge is, how can we link the 3 zones? And, how can we better leverage the benefit of the Fraser River trail? Especially as the valley seeks to improve connections throughout the whole, Fraser could be a pleasant stopping point on a Winter Park to Tabernash bike ride, or the strategic bike intersection to trails on Byers or up CR 8 into Arapaho forest. 14 Good luck! Thanks for your work to make Fraser a better place to live. 15 Don’t sell out like Winter Park. Keep it Local. 16 i would encourage you to look big picture - acquire the land and properties to build a great main street - the rest will follow - hire a good planning firm to design a proper town master plan that can be implemented as land is acquired and can guide future develop- ment. 17 How did we do on the last strategic plan? 18 Stop giving business to the mayor, it looks fishy, and the end product sucks. Get a handle on Clark Lipscomb, he is dividing us, and that’s kill- ing our town. Fix the streets and infrastructure, and contiue to beautify the public spaces we have. Develop FroDo into small retail hub, say 6 shops 500sf with apartments upstairs. Quit trying to house WP employees, the locals are getting run off. Get a handle on the train noise, and the ski train before it turns into a problem. Encourage property owners to find tenants instead of sitting empty. Come up with something for smartphones that make exploring Fraser easy and fun. Get a community recycling system going that is affordable. Put town meetings live on the web, or at least watchable after the fact. If that exists, let us know how to watch it. Don’t hold closed door sessions, ever. Be up front and transparent. Give Jeff Durbin a 5% raise. Lol, good luck... 19 Please address the train we can’t even have our windows open it’s so loud!!!!! 20 Again, build on existing strengths. Keep historic buildings and sites intact and weave them into the changing fabric. Keep existing willowed wetland intact wishin town limits. Development should be mixed and encourage cottage industries and small businesses. NO NEED FOR MORE FRANCHISE STORES OR FAST FOOD! Link town walkways and bike paths directly to other trails/paths including trails to public land and through private easements. Encourage “green” development along the Fraser River, which is a very underutilized and under appreciated amenity at this point. Encourage development of housing, including housing that can be purchased and not just rented, for working class incomes so Fraser can house policemen, teachers and all the rest. Build on funkiness, history and arts by promoting/encouraging public art, street art and murals. Build on the historic nature of Highway 40 frontage and railroad. 21 Please start working with organizations such as the Fraser Rec District to get more events here. Granby just hosted a High School mountain bike competition that brought over 3,000 folks to the area. We can partner with the Rec District to bring in soccer tournaments, etc. (Vail creates huge economic opportunities hosting soccer, lacrosse, and hockey tournaments. We could undercut their prices and lure folks to our valley.) Partner with government organizations to get grant money to improve transportation. Continue to consider ways to combine water districts. *Enforce current town ordinances! (Broken down cars in yards) It is good to be forward thinking, but remember, we are too close to Denver to become another Steamboat. Embrace who we are and do it the best way we can. There is nothing wrong with being a well thought out light industrial /bedroom community. Lots of tax money there. Just make sure businesses are taking measures to improve curb appeal. 22 Please don’t let the ski train idle in Fraser all winter. It is noise and smelly for those of us that live here on a full time basis. 23 For the record, I do NOT want to see Fraser change. I LOVE Fraser as is. My opinion is based on if we HAVE TO redevelop. I would prefer WP to make the tourist changes and Fraser remain the bedroom community. I think we all look for a place to escape the tourists and i, personally love having this little sanctuary. I have lived here most my life and love the fact we only have one stop light. I do NOT ever want a Walmart. I have no problem going to the city for items we can’t get here and would vote for open space and lack of services any day over development and cookie cutter. 24 Fraser government and officials are out of touch with those who do not have businesses or reside in downtown Fraser. The attitude portrayed by Fraser is difficult to digest. Fraser is not a historic landmark in history. Don’t develop and push new ideas at the expense of your existing businesses and residents. Fraser needs to be a community first. Create that and the rest will follow. 25 With the volume of development taking place on hwy 40 in Winter Park, Fraser seems to be left in the dark as a second tier town along Hwy 40. 26 People I talk to ‘I drive through there all the time’. Need people to stop and look around to enjoy the community more often. 27 I don’t think more housing will help Fraser. Get us more customers so more businesses will move here. Stop pandering to the big boys, and bring in the mom and pop shops that will keep Fraser funky. Get us some more events not revolving around Grand Park. Get the buses to come here every day all day, or a train or light rail. Skiing from town to town should be a thing. The signage sucks, the bus stop is ugly, and there should be an ap or something for your phone to give you an instant map. Not all of the businesses in Fraser come up on Google. 28 I don’t want to become a parking lot for Winter Park’s train to idle all day. I don’t want to become “Avon” and be ghetto housing for em- ployees. The lack of cooperation and sharing of economic opportunity between the ski area, Winter Park Town, and Fraser, is pathetic and shameful. Fraser needs to get a plan and go for their prosperity in this robust economy because nobody’s sharing and nobody’s going to. 29 Fraser benefits a lot from its proximity to great trails and outdoor recreation, and hopefully we can build on that with connections from downtown to the Fraser River Trail - a crosswalk and pedestrian island to help cross Highway 40 at Clayton Avenue seems like a good op- tion, because that would connect the Headwaters Trails Alliance office and Hotel to downtown, as well as the River. The only significant negative for the town, in my opinion, is the railroad noise. Hopefully we can fix that with the whistleless crossing. 30 Fraser has many great opportunities to grow and make Grand County a great place. I think being business friendly and growing the industrial part could be a great area to pursue. Winter Park is so tourist focused we loose track of the local needs. Creating a place where a local could start a commercial brewery, or ski manufacturing or any other business that requires commercial space would help the area grow. Land prices seem to so out of control I think this would be difficult but there is a need for commercial style development. 31 Thank you!!!! Fraser should consider merging with winter park Downtown Fraser needs a face lift 32 The Town of Fraser needs to improve. They need to clean up the existing properties, improve the signage, get rid of the banners. They need a comprehensive plan for the growth that is occurring in the Valley. The need to become a walkable town and they need to redevelop the adjacent areas to downtown and turn a focus to the Fraser River. It won’t be easy, but the Town needs to be forward thinking. Thank you for asking our opinions. 33 It is incumbent that the community realize that their is no such thing as stopping progress. All we can do is create a vision for the future to make Fraser a sustainable place for businesses to thrive, for families to grow and prosper and one that welcomes visitors at the same time protecting our most valuable resources-- the river, the forest and our meadows. We have the opportunity to work with our developers to encourage more housing for full time residents. We have followed the path of other resort communities and the majority of our housing is for second homeowners. Having more people who call Fraser home will make our busi- ness community more successful. One huge opportunity is to partner with MPEI to build reliable and consistent Broadband service for the entire county. Having the ability to work from home or to build a small business over the internet will diversify our workforce and make Fraser less reliant on seasonal nature of resort industry. 34 The Fraser Valley desperately needs low income housing. If we do not provide housing for the people who will work at the new stores, restaurants, construction companies etc our town will not flourish. 35 Maintaining our sense of community. Friendly folks willin to lend a hand. 36 we are glad to see fraser taking the initiative on this and hope it leads to business development to the downtown area and making it a more attractive place to visit. 37 I would hope that through this process we could rediscover the importance of the independent businessman with his own hopes and aspira- tions and ideas of a prosperous future without being crushed by the dictates of a “founder”. 38 I am pleased that development is being discuessed/pursed in Fraser. However, I would like to see moderation and non corporate develop- ment. Lets keep the small town feel! 39 It needs to be more connected. There are too many empty lots or disconnected businesses. 40 The things that government can help with are: -bikeways/roadways and sidewalks -town parks/open space -incentives for other retail/businesses like tax breaks or grants to help develop areas. -High speed internet -Great bus system Government can’t -make more people to come -make more businesses come -create business Town of Fraser’s job is to provide a beautiful setting with great transportation, internet, and parks/open space and then let the businesses and residents thrive in a business and development friendly area 41 I think it is a challenge to change the thinking of long time locals but we need to think forward instead of backward. I think keeping in mind the history of Fraser is important but we need to become more independent and continue grow while working with our neighboring towns and resorts. 42 Pick an image for the next 40 years and develop that image...decide if it is pot head weirdos, family freindly fun, what do you want Fraser to be in 2050?
