SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to
demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated
globally by the Earth Day Network and celebrated in more than 193 countries each year.

The theme for the 48 anniversary of Earth Day is END PLASTIC POLLUTION. In response, Eath Day
2018 is dedicated to providing the information and inspriation needed to fundamentally change human
attitude and behavior about plastic.
The Eath Day Proclamation is attached.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Proclaim April 22, 2018 as Earth Day in the City of McCall and authorize the Mayor to sign the
proclamation.
