HomeMy Public PortalAboutr 06:315 ~Ze5Lìlu1iDlt of t1F~ ¿ßorou£lr nf QIadent) ;N + 3J + No. 06-315 Date of AdorH on December 7, 2006 -- RESOLUTION OPPOSING SENATE BILL S-807/ EXPANSIO OF HEALTH BENEFITS WHEREAS Senate Bill #807 requires all health insurers and teState Health Benefits Program (SHBP) to provide unlimited health insurance coverage for treatment of alcoholism and other substance use disorders under amc terms and conditions as other illnesses; and WHEREAS, S-807 would add to already spiraling healthcare c sts that burden prope11y taxpayers; and WHEREAS, a fiscal estimate provided by the State Office of Leg slalive Services places the first year costs alone for local government at $7.8 million ollars; and WHEREAS, Since the Special Legislative Session on Property ax Ref 01111 was charged to forge a path that would lead to reform by cutting taxe not increasing spending, it is unconscionable for the Legislature to demonstrate such an unwise disregard of another major cost driver on local property taxpayers; an WHEREAS the New Jersey League of Municipalities strongly 0 poses S-807 as released and has requested that all of its members to go on record si 1ilarlyopposing the same. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as D llows: I. That the Borough of Cal1eret hereby trongly opposes Senate Bill # 807. 2. That a copy of this Resolution be forw rdcd to Senator Joseph F. Vitale, Assemblyman Jol S.
