SUMMARY STATEMENT:
This workshop will present and discuss various streetscape infrastructure alternatives for the Downtown Core Reconstruction Project. Streetscape improvements consist of sidewalks, landscaping
(i.e. street trees, mobile planters, and irrigation), illumination (i.e. sidewalk and intersection lighting). Included with this agenda bill are the following:
Executive Summary - overview of the workshop information including a description of each proposed sidewalk hardscape and landscaping alternative and how these alternatives were developed
and prioritized by the Project Team through the preliminary design process
Streetscape Cost Estimate Tables – multiple, itemized cost estimate tables for each proposed alternative that provides cost comparisons to the original concept level project budget
Streetscape Alternatives Cost Matrix - a table providing the total estimated streetscape budget for each combination of hardscape and landscape alternatives
Hardscape Alternative Renderings – various renderings showing paver and concrete sidewalk hardscape options
Downtown Core Streetscape Site Plan – a plan view map of the Downtown Core showing the proposed location for landscaping and illumination features and identifying the different landscaping
alternatives for Silva cell installations
Silva Cell Informational Exhibit – a two-page exhibit explaining the functions of Silva Cells and sidewalk cross-section views of a typical installation.
Horrocks, Baer Group, and City staff will present this information as a workshop discussion to better understand the Council’s priorities and desired levels of funding for streetscape
alternatives.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Provide direction to staff on prioritized streetscape components and associated funding requirements.
