AI RESOLUTION OF THE ~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE CITY .MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO APPROPRIATE AND
TRANSFER FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $400,000 FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED
IMPACT FEE FUND TO THE NEW NATATORIUM REHABILITATION PROJECT,
FISCAL YEAR 2009-2010, AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO SOLICIT REQUEST ,FOR
PROPOSALS FOR THE DESIGN OF THE PROJECT
WHEREAS, City staff met with a pool consultant to conduct an inspection on the
~tatorium's pool, pool filtration system and the appurtenant pool equipment and found
at the majority of the equipment used for maintaining the pool's water quality is in
red of replacement; and
WHEREAS, the pool's filtration systems and equipment are upwards of 20 years
old; and
WHEREAS, as mandated by the County Fire Department and County Health
Department, the City is required to switch from Chlorine gas to Sodium Hypochlorite
liquid sanitizes; and
WHEREAS, the sand filter tanks leak and are beyond repair and would require
~ment; and
WHEREAS, the pool covers . and ~ motors are deteriorated from ° the chlorine
tation and no longer functionable and are non-repairable; and
WHEREAS, the existing floor suction grates at the bottom of the pool are not in
compliant with current federal law and the City was mandated to resize the suction
grates starting January 1, 2D09; and
WHEREAS, the, circulating pumps are not adequate to circulate all of the water in
the pool during peak periods and should be replaced with variable frequency.drive
premium efficient motors to ~improve~ the water circulation; and
WHEREAS, the pool needs to be sandblasted, re-plastered and repainted to
prevent further flakes entering the filtration system; and
WHEREAS, staff has estimated the cost of replacement of the pool system and
al,l appurtenants to be about $400,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY .FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Lynwood authorizing the City
manager or designee to appropriate and transfer funds from the unappropriated Impact

Fee Fund, in the. amount of $400,000 to the new Natatorium Rehabilitation Project,
fiscal year 2009-2010.
Section 2. Authorize staff to solicit request for proposal for the design of the
project.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption..
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this City Council
Resolution.
