RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION ENSURING THE SAFETY
AND WELFARE OF THE HANDICAPPED AND TO EN OURAGE
ENFORCEMENT
OF SUCH LEGISLATION
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carter t recognizes that
legislation is needed to set forth minimum safety standards for handica ped individuals to
promote their health, safcty and welfare; and
WHEREAS, The Family Alliance to Stop Abuse and Neglect is orking with New
Jersey Assemblyman Chivukula on legislation requiring more string t safety standards
and better training of those who work with the handicapped and for he enforcement of
such safety and training standards, including legislation to require pr per whcelchair tie-
downs and seat-belt equipmcnt in vehicles the are utilized to transp rt individuals with
handicaps; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council fully support any and all such ef orts to improve the
health, welfare and safety of handicapped individuals.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Cou cil of the Borough
of Ca11eret, that it fully supp0l1s any and all efforts to improve thc ealth, welfare and
safety of handicappcd individuals and hereby strongly encourages th t the Legislature of
the State ofNcw Jersey make every effort to promulgate such legisla 'on within the State
of New Jersey.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution s
forwarded to Governor Jon S. Corzine, Assembly Spcaker Joseph J.
Joseph F. Vitale, Assemblyman Jolm S. Wisniewski and Assemblym
