Driscoll, Town Manager Date: May 20, 2021 RE: Agenda Item-Approval of Gift Expenditures I am very pleased to forward the enclosed email correspondence from Anne-Marie Gagnon, Director of Senior Services indicating the Watertown Food Pantry continues to receive generous support of both food and cash donations from various individuals, groups, businesses and foundations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Town is grateful for all of the community support. Total cash gifts of $187,253 was received from 799 donors from June 22, 2020-April 30, 2021. Donations of$1,000 or more are as follows: June 22,2020-April 30,2021 724 Donors totaling $170,125 direct to Watertown Food Pantry 75 Donors totaling $17,128 per Watertown Community Foundation credit card effort. $1,000 Anonymous (4) $1,000 Catherine Raitto $1,000 Kathleen Dorries & William Aldridge $1,165 Employees of Odysseys Unlimited $1,000 Law Office of Nicholas Poser $1,320 VHB $1,000 Francis D. Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A, any expenditure of gifts of funds needs the approval of the Town Manager and Town Council. Additionally, as you recall, on April 28th and June 23, 2020 the Honorable Town Council approved the acceptance and expenditure of gifts of funds to the Watertown Food Pantry in the amount of $40,693 and$64,786. I respectfully request the attached Resolution approving these gift expenditures be placed on the May 25, 2021 Town Council Agenda for your consideration. Total cash gifts received from June 22, 2020-April 30, 2021, is $187,253. Of that, $72,542 has been expended on food and products from July 1, 2020-May 7, 2021. Donors include various individuals, groups, businesses, and foundations. Donations over$1,000 are noted. Sincere appreciation to the Watertown Community Foundation for processing credit card donations, and to the Friends of the Watertown COA/Senior Center for accepting donations on behalf of the Watertown Food Pantry.
