PRESENT: Mayor Craig Rockwood, Council members, Dave Huntsman, Dee Johnson,
Susan Barnes, and Brad Andersen, Clerk, Betty McKinlay
VISITORS: Bart Stoddard, Earl Louk, Roger Andersen
Mayor Rockwood called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.
First matter of business was the Variance request of Bart Stoddard. He would like to sell
off part of his property to create another lot. There was some discussion. Mr. Louk's
concern was closing off the alley. He uses it to access his backyard. He would still be
able to do that. Mayor Rockwood called for a vote on the Variance. Council member
Dave Huntsman motioned to accept the Variance on the property. Council member
Susan Barnes seconded. All were in favor.
The Iona Elementary School was awarded the "Excellence in Education Award" again
this year. Some of the Council will attend the ceremony.
R C & D Conservation Service, Steve Smart, is putting a grant application together for us
and sending in for kitchen supplies, tables, and money to build bookshelves in the
history museum. $4000 is about what he is getting for us. If we can match funds we will
be more likely to get the grant. It is due by Saturday. The Council agreed to match
funds.
Roger Andersen from Bonneville County Planning and Zoning discussed building
permits with the Council. He said that we as a City are loosing revenue by not issuing
our own building permits. Roger lives in Iona and would like to inspect the building and
take care of the paper work. Council member Dave Huntsman was concerned about
doing the inspections in a timely matter. Roger has a plan he follows and he discussed
this with the Council. There would have to be a 24 hr. notice. Mayor Rockwood asked
the Council to think about it and he would talk to our Attorney, Dale Storer, about what
we would have to do.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
