A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE SOUTHERN HIGHWAY
A CONTROLLED ACCESS HIGHWAY
PROJECT NO. M-Q 108 ( )
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle and the State of
Indiana, by and through the Indiana Department of Highways, is
now undertaking and has directed the preparation of plans for
the relocation, improvement and construction of a certain
highway extending in a Northeasterly direction from Manhattan
Road (Jackson Street) to State Road 240 (Indianapolis Road) in
Putnam County which highway is designated in the files of the
Indiana Department of Highways as M-Q Project No. 108 ( ) .
WHEREAS, the Agreement entered into on September 6, 1985,
by and between the City of Greencastle, acting by and through
its Board of Public Works, and the State of Indiana, acting by
and through the Indiana Department of Highways, provided that
the relocated State Road 240 (Southern Highway) would be an
access-controlled facility.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the
City of Greencastle that the Southern Highway from Manhattan
Road (Jackson Street) to State Road 240 (Indianapolis Road) ,
all in Putnam County, in the interest of the safety of the
traveling public and the safety of citizens residing in the
area adjacent to, or near, said highway, should be and hereby
is declared and constituted as a controlled access facility;
and that access to and egress from said highway between said
points shall be and are limited to the following designated
intersections:
PUBLIC ROADS
Manhattan Road (Jackson Street)
Cemetery Road
U.S. Highway 231 (Bloomington Street)
Tennessee Street (South entry only)
Zinc Mill Road (1st Street)
Round Barn Road (10th Street)
State Road 240 (Indianapolis Road)
PRIVATE ROADS
