Public art administrators need certain tools and resources to advance public ark in their communities.
Americans for the Arts' is here to provide information on standard best practices and sample
ordinances, contracts, calls for artists, publications, and more.
Best practices can be found in any professional field. The purpose of a published set of best
practices is to acknowledge what are generally accepted as the finest methods or techniques to
practice within a given field. The best practices referenced below were developed in conjunction with
the PAN Advisory Council and other professionals.

OVERVIEW
Space to Create Colorado is the first state driven initiative for affordable housing for artists and creative
sector workers in the nation. Our mission is to develop affordable housing and work .space, including
commercial space, for artists and arts organizations and to position Colorado as the nation's leader in artist -
led community transformation in rural communities. Space to Create will facilitate the development of nine
projects in eight regions in Colorado's rural, small town and mountain communities. This effort is led by the
Colorado Office of Economic Development's Colorado Creative Industries, the Colorado Department of
Local Affairs, the Boettcher Foundation, Artspace and History Colorado.
GOALS
• Stimulate community and economic development in rural, small town and mountain communities by
providing permanently affordable and financially sustainable workforce housing and working spaces for
creative sector employment
• Nine projects initiated across Colorado by 2019 will culminate in roughly $45 million of investment in
,direct capital investment :by multiple .partners and agencies

Evergreen National Bank on Main Street, is again a tour sponsor �a
host for the Preview Show throughout September, in which a sample
of each artists work will be on display during regular banking hours.
The public is invited to the Opening Reception at the bank on Friday,
September .16th, from 6-8 pm. Meet the artists, plan your visits to the
studios for the weekend tour and enjoy hors d'oeuvres, wine and beer.
Evergreen Glass is our primary sponsor and is our main distribution
point far tour books. Evergreen Glass will feature artists Jane Christie
and Gale Gatto (dots #1 c ' 2 on the map).
Evergreen offers plenty of lodging and dining options to make it a
great mountain getaway and ensure plenty of time to visit all of
the studios. The two day, self -guided tour will take you to parts of
= Evergreen you may not see otherwise, winding through beautiful
evergreen and aspen -lined roads. Roadside signage will be abundant,
making it easy to find each studio. Numbers on the signs will
correspond to the artists' numbers in the tour book. Watch for those
bright yellow signs with our cowboy coming through the open doors
he will lead the way!

Judith loves the challenge of impressionist representational
art and the pursuit of capturing light as it defines objects;
whether landscape, still life or figure painting. Judith is
drawn to the human figure as a form to evict and portray
thought, emotion and feeling. Judith has found that
creating the structure of the human form on canvas has
many similarities to designing and building architecture;

allowed her love of animals to guide the direction
of her art. She uses her impressionistic style to

Marin Dobson is an artist whose oil paintings
incorporate particular attention to light and
poetic forms. Her work is accomplished in a
painterly style. Her paintings have been selected

_'r Iin an abstract artist, I paint on a wet resin using
colorful acrylic paints and pens.
I rarely use brushes, I like using stir sticks to help the
flow of the paint go in the right direction. Resin is an
unforgiving element, it takes about 24 hrs. to dr, y; and
wks. to cure. When bubbles rise to the top I blow them
out with a blow torch every 15 min. this must be done
until the resin is tacky and no longer a liquid

learned there are no limits to an approach to art. I have

My love ofpastels came after fighting with acrylic
fast dryingpaint. Ilove the vibrant colors that
just seem to glow. My lave of nature seems to lure
me into painting many landscapes and sunsets, my
favorite. My camera is my sidekick on all my trips
along with my husband of course.

I admit it, I scrounge. Found vintage objects are
recontrived into sculptures of whimsical characters.
The potential a `find' has within it is thrilling to me
and the outcome often unpredictable. Old gauges,
rusted gears, doorknobs and utensils to name a few,
all find new meaning in my studio.
