n A RESOLUTION OF TIIE COMMON COUNCIL OF' THE CITY OF' GREENCASTLE,
INDIANA, PROCLAIMING SUPPORT FOR FORMING A COMPANION COMMUNITY
RELATIONSHIP WITII CONSOLACION, CUSCATLAN, EL SALVADOR
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle, Indiana, U.S.A., in cooperation with DePauw University, extends
to Consolacion, Department of Cuscatlan, El Salvador, our hand in friendship; and
WHEREAS,with tremendous will and determination,the people of Consolacion have survived a twelve-
year war in El Salvador; and
WHEREAS, through the strength of community, the people of Consolacion are rebuilding their lives
focused on a long-range plan of self-sustainable development; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Greencastle recognize the importance of community and acknowledge the
mutual benefit of a companion relationship with Consolacion.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Greencastle,
Indiana, U.S.A., do hereby proclaim its support for forming a Companion Community relationship with
Consolacion, Cuscatlan, El Salvador.
FURTHER, we support the Salvadoran peoples' desire for peace, democratization, and community
development in their county and join with them in building a better future.
PASSED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its regular meeting
this 13th day of October, 1992.
