A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GREENCASTLE
RECOMMENDING STATEWIDE OPEN CONTAINER LEGISLATION
WHEREAS, the Greencastle Common Council has passed on first reading an open
container ordinance, believing it to be an important policy statement about safe and
responsible driving, and;
WHEREAS, it is the hope of the Greencastle Common Council that this statement
will potentially save injury, pain and suffering, family dislocation and loss of life, and;
WHEREAS, we recognize this statement to have limited effect and that a statewide
ban on open containers is needed to help protect the residents of Greencastle and Indiana,
and;
WHEREAS, a state law passed by the Indiana Legislature would reinforce Indiana's
commitment to safe and sober driving.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle recommends a statewide open container law be passed by the Indiana State
Legislature.
PASSED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its p.
regular meeting this 8th day of December, 1992.
