RESOLUTION NO. 73-16
RESOLUTION REGULATING INDEPENDENCE BEACH PARK
WHEREAS, the Medina Village Park at Independence Beach has
experienced problems which include a conflict in uses among boaters,
swimmers, picknickers and others; and a demand for facilities at certain
times that exceeds the availability thereof; and resultant threats to safety
of traffic, pedestrians, boaters and swimmers; and
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Park Reserve District maintains
nearby facilities that are readily available to the public at large;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Medina Council
that the following regulations shall be in effect for the Village Park at
Independence Beach and for neighboring streets, pursuant to Ordinance
No. 145, effective upon posting:
1. Parking and use of the boat launching area shall be by permit
only, which permit shall be issued by the Chief of Police upon request,
to residents of the Village of Medina and their guests, without charge.
Permits shall be issued annually to residents and by the day or week for
their guests. The Motor Vehicle License number of the Permit Holder
shall be plainly printed on the face of the permit and said Permit shall
be displayed on said automobile on the back of the inside of the rear
view mirror.
2. The area of the beach to the southeast of the boat landing shall be
reserved for swimming, with no boat landings permitted.
3. The park shall be closed from sunset until 7:00 A. M. except for
snowmobiles passing through the park.
