RESOLUTION NO. 1993-24
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CHANGING
COURTHOUSE SQUARE LIGHTING
WHEREAS, Main Street Greencastle believes that beautification of the downtown plays
an important role in the attraction of new business and customers and that changing the current
street lighting from the modern poles used now to a more historic looking lighting will enhance
the beauty of the historic buildings, and
WHEREAS, Main Street Greencastle will assume responsibility of raising all monies and
further will not take any action until all necessary funds have been obtained, and
WHEREAS, this project will not increase the cost of downtown lighting to the City of
Greencastle as any extra funds will be provided as a buy-down by Main Street Greencastle.
BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council does approve Main Street Greencastle's proposal
to upgrade the downtown (approximately 20) lighting fixtures to "Acorn Lighting" and agrees
that in consideration of the proposed "buyout" of the present lease by Main Street, that present
fixtures should be abandoned to them. The City will enter into a new 10 year lease with PSI
for the new fixtures at the present rate.
PASSED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its
regular meeting this 28th day of December, 1993.
