RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO THE
/1 U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES GRANT
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Greencastle, Indiana, has
determined to be in the interest of the community to apply for certain
Federal Grants and;
WHEREAS, U.S . Department of Justice has a program designated Community
Oriented Policing Services "COPS" and;
WHEREAS, certain funds are available for hiring of additional police
personnel and;
WHEREAS, the COPS program will pay up to seventy-five percent (75%) of
the salary and benefit for additional police officers for a maximum of
Seventy-five Thousand Dollars ($75, 000 . 00) over a three year period for
each officer employed.
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle, Indiana, be authorized to apply for a "COPS" grant and to take
the necessary steps to provide for employment of additional police officers
required by such program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle, authorize application for A! additional officers, pursuant to
-.he "COPS" program.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at
its regular meeting this 13th day of December, 1994 .
