A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT
FOR MAINTENANCE OF BRIDGES
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Greencastle, Indiana,
desires to reach an agreement with the Putnam County Commissioners as to
the maintenance of bridges; and
WHEREAS, certain proposals have been suggested as to a compromise use
of funds generated by I . C. 8-16-3 ; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City and of the County to
expeditiously resolve bridge maintenance issues in a consistent manner.
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle, Indiana, enter into an interlocal agreement with the County
for the maintenance of bridges in the city pursuant to the following
guidelines :
1 . Bridges and culverts be separated into three categories, with
responsibility as follows :
a. Small structures - less than 12 . 5 square feet (48 inches in
diameter) - LOCAL RESPONSIBILITY
b. Intermediate structures - more than 12 . 5 square feet - but
not a bridge pursuant to Federal Guidelines - JOINT
RESPONSIBILITY
c . Large structures - those defined as a bridge by the Federal
Highway Division - COUNTY RESPONSIBILITY
d. All inspection of intermediate and large size structures
shall be - COUNTY RESPONSIBILITY
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle, Indiana, enter into an agreement by which, those expenditures
for repairs of Albin Pond Road Culverts be resolved by a fifty percent
(50%) contribution from the County Bridge Fund for such repairs .
PASSED and ADOPTED, by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle,
Indiana on this 13th da of December, 1994 .
