A RESOLUTION DECLARING AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TARGET AREA
(REMEDIES)
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Greencastle,
Indiana, has determined that it would be in the best interest of
the citizens of Greencastle, Indiana, if such Common Council
defined and declared a certain area within such City as an economic
development target area; and
WHEREAS, I .C. 6-1 . 1-12 . 1-7 defines the procedure for
establishing such an economic development target area; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council desires to make available to
persons owning property in such economic development target area
the right to a deduction from the assessed value of property as
defined in I .C. 6-1 . 1-12 . 1-3, prope-rty

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City
of Greencastle, Indiana, as follows :
1 . That this Common Council hereby declares by description
the boundaries of the area to be declared herein to be an economic
development target area as follows :
• Part of Lot Number 101 in the Original Plat of the
City of Greencastle as per plat thereof recorded in Plat
Book 1, page 6, in the office of the Recorder of Putnam
County, Indiana, described as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at a point on the North line of said Lot
which is 8 feet and 10 inches West of the Northeast
Corner of said Lot; running thence West with the North
line of said Lot a distance of 18 feet; thence South ,
parallel with the East line of said Lot, 102 feet and 9
inches to the South line of said Lot; thence East with
said South line 18 feet; thence North to the place of
beginning.
ALSO, Part of Lots Numbered 101 and 112 in the
Original Plat of the City of Greencastle as per plat
thereof recorded in Plat Book 1 , page 6, in the office of
the Recorder of Putnam County, Indiana, bounded as
follows, to-wit:
Eight ( 8) feet of uniform width off the West side of
said Lot 112 and 9 feet of uniform width off the East
side of said Lot 101 .
2 . That the above described real estate is deemed by the
Common Council of the City of Greencastle to be an economic
S development target area within the corporate limits of the City of
Greencastle, Indiana, with has become undesirable or impossible for
normal development and occupancy because of lack of development, or
other factors that have impaired values or prevent a normal
411 development of property or use of property in that the area is
vacant with no improvements due to fire.
3 . That in order to be competitive in attracting new
construction and business to the City of Greencastle, Indiana, it
is imperative that such City offer to new businesses locating in
the above -described area maximum tax abatement as allowed by law.
4 . That the Common Council now RESOLVES that the above-
designated area shall be declared an economic development target
area under the terms and provisions of I .C. 6-1 . 1-12 . 1-7 .
5 . That this Resolution shall be published pursuant to the
provisions of I .C. 5-3-1 and a copy of this Resolution shall be
provided to the County Assessor's Office for inspection therein.
6 . That after due publication, a public hearing shall be
held at the time set forth in the public notice notifying of the
passage of this Resolution at which time, this Common Council shall
receive and hear all remonstrances and objections; determine
whether or not the qualifications for an economic development
target area have been met; and take final action upon this
Resolution.
