HomeMy Public PortalAbout19-1996-25 RESOLUTION NO. 1996-25 A RESOLUTION NAMING BOB FLANIGAN BAND SHELTER WHEREAS, Robert L. "Bob" Flanigan lived in Greencastle, Indiana, from 1931 until 1945 when he entered the United States Army; and WHEREAS, Bob Flanigan attended elementary, junior high school and high school in Greencastle and after World War II, he attended Butler University; and WHEREAS, The Four Freshman vocal group was formed at Butler University in 1948, and Bob Flanigan performed with the group for 44 years; and WHEREAS, Bob Flanigan is recognized as one of the finest "lead" singers and trombonists in the history of American Jazz/Popular music; and WHEREAS, Bob Flanigan retired from performing in 1992, but continues as the group's mentor and personal manager; and WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle wishes to honor its native son, Bob Flanigan. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the band shelter located in Robe-Ann Park, Greencastle, Indiana, be renamed the BOB FLANIGAN BAND SHELTER. 1 itA PAS SED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its regular meeting this 10th day of September, 1996.
