A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
PUBLICATION AND MAILING OF NOTICE CONCERNING
A PROPOSED ORDINANCE REMOVING THE CITY'S
WATER UTILITY FROM THE JURISDICTION OF THE
INDIANA UTILITY REGULATORY COMMISSION FOR THE
APPROVAL OF CERTAIN MATTERS
WHEREAS, an ordinance has been introduced before the Common Council of the City
of Greencastle, Indiana, pursuant to Indiana Code 8-1.5-3-9.1 proposing the removal of the
City's water utility from the jurisdiction of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for the
approval of rates and charges and of the issuance of stocks, bonds, notes, or other evidence of
indebtedness; and
WHEREAS, written notice of the meeting at which a final vote on such an ordinance will
be taken must be mailed to all ratepayers and the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission at least
thirty (30) days prior to the meeting; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council fmds it necessary and desirable that notice of such a
meeting also be published in accordance with Indiana Code 5-3-1.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GREENCASTLE:
Section 1. That the proposed ordinance removing the City's water utility from the
jurisdiction of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for the approval of rates and charges
and of the issuance of stocks, bonds, notes, or other.evidence of indebtedness shall be voted
upon at the City Council's special meeting held on,; �-,�r� 2/ Z /1-i6
Section 2. That written notice of the meeting to be held on
�t /ci 9 . and the proposed ordinance removing the City's water utility from
the jurisdiction of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for the approval of rates and
charges and of the issuance of stocks, bonds, notes, or other evidence of indebtedness be mailed
to all ratepayers of the City's water utility and to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission no
later than thirty (30) days prior to the meeting at which time a final vote will be taken.
