A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF THE
PROPERTY FORMERLY KNOWN AS "OLD INDUSTRIAL PARK"
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle is the owner of approximately 41.9 acres located at the Southeast
corner of the intersection of First Street and Highway 240 (see Exhibit A attached); and
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle is authorized pursuant to I.C. 36-1-4-6 and 36-1-11-8 to transfer
real estate to other governmental agencies without consideration; and
WHEREAS, the Greencastle Community School system has indicated a desire to utilize all or a part of
the tract for school purposes; and
WHEREAS, there are repayable grants from the United States Department of Agriculture as well as
further costs that will be required for development, including Environmental Impact Studies.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GREENCASTLE that such portions of the 41.9 acre tract be made available to the Greencastle Community
School Corporation as the school corporation may require for school purposes so long as the Greencastle
Community School Corporation agrees to assume and hold the City of Greencastle harmless as to any expense
for such transfer, including payment of all future development costs, United States Department of Agriculture
grant repayments attributable to the real estate conveyed, and the like.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Greencastle Community School Corporation may elect to take
r all or any part of the property described herein. The Greencastle Community School Corporation's obligation
to hold the City of Greencastle harmless for any grant repayments required by the United States Department
of Agriculture shall be proportionate to the value of the real estate acquired.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this offer to convey shall extend through October 15, 1997.
PASSED AND SOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its regular meeting
this day of cc , 1996.
