Home My Public Portal Aboutr 07:011 - - - 2RczalutÜnt af t~e i@ar No 07-11 altglI af QIurteret, ~ ~ :1J ~ Date of Adoption January 11 2007 ENDORSING FY 2007 NIDOT SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS CATEGORY GRANT APPLICATION WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, New Jersey are desirous of obtaining funding from the NJDOT Trust Fund Authority Act, Fiscal Year 2007 Municipal Aid Program for a "Safe Routes to Schools" project; and WHEREAS, the Governing Body has authorized the Borough Engineer to recommend a Safe Routes to Schools Project Grant Application for submittal for funding under the FY 2007 NJDOT Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the Borough Engineer has recommended and prepared a Safe Routes to Schools Project Application for the construction of pedestrian crosswalks, sigtlage, trafflc calming and handicapped accessible ramps along the pedestrian rOlltes to Borough schools; and WHEREAS, the Governing Body has reviewed the above described Safe Routes to Schools Project Apphcation and has approved of the same; and WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret wishes to enter into a partnership with the schools and police department to foster programs and improvements that encourage walking and biking to school; and WHEREAS, the Borough of Ca11eret intends to upgrade frequently traveled routes to its schools so as to make them safer. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey that the Borough of Carteret hereby endorscs the submission of the above described FY 2007 NJDOT Safe Routes to Schools Category Grant Application to the New Jersey Department of Transportation and that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said application. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution along with three signed copies of the apphcation be forwarded to thc Borough Engineer for submission to the District Local Aid Office within the New Jersey Transportation.
