FIRE DEPARTMENT
An Ordinance Relating to the Fire Depart-
ment, and Fire Equipment, and Pre-
scribing Penalties for Violation
Be it ordained by the council of
the Town of Wellsburg, Iowa;
Section 1. It shall be unlawful to
park or leave standing any wagon,
cart, dray, bicycle, motor -cycle,
automobile, motor vehicle, or vehicle
of any kind, in front of the fire de-
partment building or either side of
the street, or within twenty feet of
such building.
Section 2. It shall be unlawful
for any vehicle of any kind to enter
the block in which the fire depart-
ment building is situated after a fire
alarm has been sounded, until after
all the fire equipment has left that
block on its wav to the fire.
Section 3. Fire equipment shall
have the right of Tway on all streets
iu going to a fire, and every wagoi,,
cart, dray, bicycle, motor -cycle, auto-
mobile, motor vehicle, or vehicle of
any kind on the approach of any fire
equipment, shall immediately draw
up to the curb and remain stationary
until after the fire department has
passed.
Section 4. It shall be unlawful
for any wagon, dray, cart, bicycle,
motor -cycle, automobile, motor ve-
hicle or vehicle of any kind to follow,
within two blocks, a fire wagon on
the sway to a fire or to be driven or
Ieft standing within three hundred
f^-t of a fire.
Section 5. It shall be unlawful
for any person. not a member of the
fire department, to ride or attempt
to ride on the fire truck while going
to or coming from a fire, or to inter-
fere or try to tamper with the fire
truck, without the permission of the
ti
chief of the fire department or the
person in charge of the truck.
Section 6. It shall be unlawful
to interfere with members of the fire
department while they are fighting
a fire, or iwith the lines of hose, or
any of the fire fighting equipment,
or in any way hamper the work of
the fire department, or try to assist
in such work unless called upon by
the chief of the fire department.
Section 7. Every person, firm or
corporation outside of the limits of
the town, and (who is not a member
of the Community Fire Agreement,
shall pay the sum of Seventv-five
Dollars ($75.00), in case a call. or
they call the department' to help,
fight a fire.
Section S. Anyone violating 9-.y
of the provisions of this Ordnance,
shall upon conviction. be subject to
imprisonment not exceedin- thirtv
days. or to a fine not exceeding One
Hundred Dollars. Whenever the fine
and costs imposed for the violation
of this Ordinance are not paid. the
person convicted may be committed
to jail until the fine and costs are
paid, not to exceed thirty days.
Section 9. All ord=nances or Darts
of ordinance in confl --t with this or-
dinance are herebv revealed.
Section 10. This Ordinance Qhall
be in force and effect from and after
its passage and publication as pro-
vidod by law.
