HomeMy Public PortalAbout1974-008RESOLUTION NO. 74--8, SUSPENDING LIQUOR LICENSES OF GILBERT PETTIT WHEREAS Gilbert Pettit is the holder of on -sale, off -sale and Sunday liquor licenses for the 55 Club, Highway 55 and County Road 19 in the City of Medina; and WHEREAS agents of the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad (MANS) conducted an investigation of the 55 Club in February 1974 and have reported to the Medina City Council that illegal activities were taking place on the premises, and their report included the following: Use, possession and sale of marijuana; Use and possession of marijuana in the A strong smell of smoking marijuana in .a h:s w.plo n ' presence of Mr. Pe tits the presence of Mr. Patti . a., . A. f ..4.11orecs) WHEREAS the Medina City Council has conducted a formal public hearing to determine what action should be taken in regard to Mr. Pettit's liquor licenses, and Mr. Pettit has been afforded due notice of said hearing, an opportunity to examine agents of the narcotics squad, and an opportunity to present pertinent information to the Medina City Council; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Medina City Council, based on testimony and documents present to it, does hereby find that illegal activities were conducted on the premises of the 55 Club in February 1974; that Mr. Pettit either did know or should have had reason to know that such activities were being conducted; and that Mr. Pettit failed to keep proper order in his place of business and failedto keep it free of disorderly persons; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVE) that, in consequence of the aforesaid find- ings, the on -sale, off -sale and Sunday liquor licenses issued to Gilbert Pettit by the City of Medina are hereby suspended for a period of consecutive days, during the dates of April , 1974, to 1974, inclusive; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mr. Pettit is hereby put on notice that his licenses shall be considered by the Medina City Council to be on a probationary status for one year from this date, with evidence of a further violation being; grounds for revocation.
