ESTABLISHING AND ENDORSING THE CARTERET PE ESTRIAN &
CYCLIST NETWORK PROJECT PLAN
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret ("Borough'), in conjunction with its Grant and
Engineering Departments, has formulated the Carteret Pedestrian & Cyclist Network
Project Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Pedestrian & Cyclist Plan provides for sib'llificant upgrades and safety
enhancements to pedestrian pathways and travel ways, to includ ADA accessibility
improvements, new sign age and other public safety related amenities and facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Plan's pedestrian and cyclist pathways and tra
utilized by local school children to travel to and from seh
neighborhood parks and facilities; and
are heavily
intertwined
I. That the Carteret Pedestrian & Cyclist Network Proj t Plan is hereby
approved.
WHEREAS, the Borough is seeking to submit the Carteret edestrian & Cyclist
Network Project Plan to the New Jersey Department of Transportati n for funding as part
of the Safe Routes to School Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Co ncil of the Borough
ofCarteret, County of Middlesex, and State of New Jersey, as fol1o s.
2. That the Carteret Pedestrian & Cyclist Network Proj ct Plan is hereby
endorsed for submission to the NJDOT for funding u der the Safe Routes
to School PrOb'fam.
3. That the appropriate Borough Officials are hereby a thorized and directed
to take the necessary action, including the exec ¡tion of any and all
documents and/or grant agreements, in furtherane of the funding and
implementation of the Pedestrian & Cyclist Network Project Plan.
