HomeMy Public PortalAbout1974-021Village of Medina Hamel, Minnesota 55340 RESOLUTION NO. 74- 2I, I:PLEMENTING A TREE DISEASE CONTROL PROGRAM 4HEREAS Laws of Minnesota 1974, Ch-pter 355, Section. 66, and rules and regulations of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture promulgated pursuant thereto, require each municipality in the metropolitan area to implement a tree disease control program; NOVA,, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Medina City Council does hereby enact Ordinance No. 152, an Ordinance Relative to Trees and Tree Disease; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that areas platted into lots of one acre or less are hereby designated as the disease control area for Medina; i.n'Cry i BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Medina does hereby adopt the following tree disease control program: 1. Inventory. The three inspector shall est.mate the number of elms, oaks and other trees within the disease control area and report the same to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture; 2. Inspection. Prior to April 15 of e-ch year, the tree inspector shall check all private and public property within the disease control area for wood or logs that could serve as disease breeding sites. He shall check all oaks in the disease control area for disease at least once during each growing season and all elms at least twice (by July 1 and August 15). 3. Other areas. The tree inspector shall inspect trees for disease outside the disease control area as time permits, and he shall enforce the provisions of Ordinance No. 151 in such areas. He shall conduct regular patrols of village streets and roads during which he Ex shall watch for evidence of tree disease. He shall use appropriate means, including distribution of informational Material, to warn property orners of tree disease. 4. Records. The tree inspector shall keep all records required by tree disease rules and regulations of the Minnesota Iepartment of Agriculture and shall make required reports to the department and the City Council.
