A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FUNDING FOR PEOPLE PATHWAYS PHASE III
WITH MATCHING FUNDS FROM
"NATIONAL RECREATIONAL TRAILS FUNDING ACT PROGRAM" GRANT
WHEREAS, the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department is applying for a
grant from the National Recreational Trails Funding Act Program, which is administered
through the Department of Natural Resources, for assistance to build and maintain Phase
III of the People Pathways program; and
WHEREAS, People Pathways Phase III begins at Tzouanakis Intermediate School,
includes construction of a pathway along certain portions of Albin Pond Road, and
connects to Kirkwood Lane, Brentfield Lane and Deefield Estates; and
WHEREAS, the "National Recreational Trails Funding Act Program" Grant will
provide 80 percent matching reimbursement assistance for eligible projects for a maximum
of $100,000.00; and
WHEREAS, in order to be considered for, and receive said grant, City of
Greencastle must provide 20 percent matching funds of the total project costs, up to
$25,000.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY OF GREENCASTLE
authorize payment to the People Pathways Program of 20 percent of the total project costs,
not to exceed $25,000.00 from Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT) funds for the
construction of Phase III of the People Pathways program. Any such payment shall be
contingent upon obtaining the "National Recreational Trails Funding Act Program" Grant,
and no payment shall be made if said grant is not obtained by December 31, 1999.
This Resolution amends and supercedes Common Council Resolution 1999-17.
PASSED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle on
this day of 1999.
