A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DESIGNATING AN ALTERATIVE ELECTIONS OFFICIAL TO SERVE THE
FUNCTIONS OF THE ELECTIONS OFFICIAL WHERE NECESSARY ~. -
- WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood anticipates that there could
be instances where the City Clerk of the City may be unable to perform the duties of the
City's Elections Official and wishes to address the need that could be created thereby;
WHEREAS, California Elections Code section 11201 related to recall elections
~ where the City's Elections Official is the official sought to be recalled provides an
example of an instance,where the City Council must designate an alternate person to
serve the duties of the City's' Elections Official; and ~
WHEREAS, to address the need to have an alternate person serve the duties of
the City's~. Elections Official where the City Clerk is unable to perform such duties,
wliether by absence or pursuant to State law, including, but not lirtiited to, Elections
Code section 11201, the City Council wishes to designate an alternative person to
perForm such duties by this.Resolution.
~ NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council hereby designates Vida P. Barone, CMC, MPA,
and independent contractor and certified city clerk, to serve the duties of the City of
Lynwood's Elections Official in instances where the City Clerk of the City of Lynwood is
unable to perform such duties as a result of the City Clerk's absence or pursuant to
State law, including but not limited to Elections Code section 11201 where the City
Clerk is the officer subject to a recall. ,
Section 2. This Resolution supersedes all prior resolutions or other Council !
actions designating an alternative City Elections Official in the City Clerk's absence or
resulting from State law requirements for the designation of an alternate Elections ;
Official. ~

Section 3. This Resolution will take effect immediately upon adoption.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this '
Resolution.
