RESOLUTION NO. 75 _ / , REGARDING A CHANGE IN METROPOLITAN SEWER BOUNDARIES
WHEREAS Lake Independence is the fourth largest lake in Hennepin County
and constitutes a metropolitan resource; and
WHEREAS the Independence Beach subdivision on the shore of Lake Independence
consists of numerous homes on small lots in an area of tight clay soil
generally unsuited for on -site septic systems; and
WHEREAS a potentially very serious public health hazard now exists in this
area.that eould.be'detrimental to the lake; and
WHEREAS the Medina City Council has ordered a sanitary sewer project in
this area. to be connected to the sewage treatment plant n.t Maple Plain;and
WHEREAS this project would resolve the public health program and would
protect the heaath of Lake Independence, the users of Morris T. Baker
County Park Reserve and of area residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Medina City Council hereby requests
the addition of the followinff mines areas to the Metropolitan Sewer Service Area:
Southwest !quarter of Section 17; all of Section 18; the Northwest (quarter of
Section 19, all in Township 118, Range 23 West.
