HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 03-42181 1 1 RESOLUTION NO. 03 -4218 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY APPROVING FRIDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2003, AS A DESIGNATED HOLIDAY FOR CITY EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, the City of Temple City has the authority to approve holidays for City employees; and WHEREAS, there are unique circumstances this year with Christmas falling on a Thursday and only half of the City's employees normally working on the Friday workday after Christmas, Friday December 26, due to the City's 9/80 open work schedule; and WHEREAS, the employee recognition Christmas luncheon, normally held at noon on Christmas eve, is being combined with the Temple City Official Recognition Dinner on Friday, December 5, 2003, and WHEREAS, in the past, employees were free to go home after the Christmas Eve Recognition Luncheon, and this year employees will not be given any special time off on Christmas Eve; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve Friday, December 26, 2003, as a holiday for City employees so half of the City's employees normally working on that Friday would not have to return to work after Christmas; and WHEREAS, the other half of City employees not normally working on December 26, would receive an additional 8 -hour floating holiday to be used in compliance with the City's Rules and Regulations regarding the use of floating holidays; NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple City does resolve to approve Friday, December 26, 2003, as a designated holiday for City employees on a one -time, non - precedent setting basis. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED on this 4th day of November, 2003.
