A RESOLUTION OF. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER 'TO ESTABLISH A
PURCHASE ORDER AGREEMENT RETAINING DMG MAXIMUS FOR NOT TO
EXCEED AMOUNT OF $9,000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF VERIFYING STAFF'S
FISCAL ANALYSIS IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL SAVINGS IN TRANSFERRING
IN-HOUSE FIRE SERVICES TO THE COUNTY AND TO AUTHORIZE THE
APPROPRIATION OF $9,000 FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED GENERAL
FUNDS TO COVER THIS EXPENSE
" ~ WHEREAS, on November 4, 1997, the voters approved that an ordinance be adopted
__ ' authorizing the transfer of fire protection, emergency medical services, and hazardous materials
protection services from the Lynwood Fire Department to the Consolidated Fire Protection District
of Los Angeles County ("County") ;and .
WHEREAS, the City formally opened negotiations with the County on August 5, 1998 to
clarify fiscal and operational components of the proposal; and
WHEREAS, staff has prepared a ten year projection comparing the cost of in-house fire
services against contract fire services with the County of Los Angeles Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, it is to the City's .benefit to verify staffs fiscal analysis identifying potential
savings in transferring in-house fire services to the County;
WHEREAS, outside professional services can be utilized to perform this assessment;
and
WHEREAS, DMG Maximus has conducted a fire services fiscal analysis for the City of
,Hawthorne.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF LYNWOOD HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is authorized to establish a purchase order
• agreement retaining DMG Maximus for not to exceed ~ amount of $9,000 for the .purpose of
i verifying staffs fiscal analysis identifying potential savings in transferring in-house fire services to
the County.
SECTION 2. That Director of Finance and Administrative Services is authorized to
make the following transfer from the unappropriated general funds, to cover this expense:

Unappropriated General Fund 1-4557-4220 (Fire Administration)
SECTION 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
