Lake St:, McCall, ID 83638 DEVELOPMENT - � ''-- COMMITTEE MEETING — Began at 12:00 p.m. • CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL Committee members Claire Remsberg, Craig Vroom, Sue Dixon and Dave Peugh were present. Also present was Delta James, Economic Development Planner. • MINUTES APPROVAL (Action Item) Craig motioned, Clair seconded, to approve the March 8, 2018 minutes without revision. All members voted"aye"and the motion passed. • PUBLIC ART PROJECTS o Lardo Bridge: Staff reported that artist Susan Madacsi will be demonstrating forging at the McCall Arts and Humanities Council's Kaleidoscope Festival on Saturday, June 23; 10 am to 2 pm. Committee members Craig and Sue volunteered to attend the festival and provide information about the upcoming Lardo Bridge project to attendees. o Railroad Ave. Mural: Staff reported that the "Cows" mural panel to replace the first mural panel that is degrading is completed and will likely be installed after July 4 by Parks Dept. staff. o Vinyl in bus stops: The committee discussed whether the "Hometown Art"vinyl images in the bus stops should be removed. The images have been there for three years now but seem to be holding up well. The Committee members unanimously agreed that the images should remain if they are in good shape. Committee members will make a point to assessthe condition of the vinyl images then discuss at the next meeting. o Placemaking for Downtown: The next substantial public art project will be artwork in coordination with the City's Downtown Reconstruction Project, which gets underway this fall. The committee discussed timing of the project and available funding, pending approval of the FY19 budget by City Council and LOT funding. • FUNDING o FY19 City budget: Staff has requested $20,000 for a downtown public art project in the City's FY19 budget, which is under consideration. o FY19 LOT: The committee directed staff to submit an application for$20,000 for a downtown public art project. o Idaho Commission on the Arts: Staff reported that the public art grant opportunity from the Idaho Commission on the Arts (ICA) has been suspended for another year. Committee members requested contact information for the ICA so that they could email them to thank them for past public art grant support. o Private contributions: Committee members reviewed a one-page overview of the Lardo Bridge project prepared by staff and asked that the overview be emailed to each committee members. The intent of the overview sheet is to help committee members encourage private contributions to the project. o Fundraising ideas: Claire provided information about a Paddle Art Contest (see http://algonquinoutfitters.com/contest/paddle-art-contest/) as a possible fundraiser.Artists are given a wooden paddle blank then awards are given for the best artworks made from the paddles and all paddles are auctioned as a fundraiser.
