HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 970 Water service connection ORDINANCE NO. 970 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF McCALL, VALLEY COUNTY, IDAHO REPEALING& REENACTING SECTION 6-2-060, CONNECTION, IN CHAPTER 2, WATER SERVICE, OF TITLE 6, UTILITY SERVICES, OF THE McCALL CITY CODE PROVIDING FOR THE CONNECTION OF WATER SERVICE FROM THE CITY TO A RESIDENCE,BUSINESS,OR OTHER PLACE OF USE, ESTABLISHING THE MINIMUM NOMINAL INTERNAL DIAMETER OF THE SERVICE CONNECTION, AND SETTING OUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF BOTH THE CUSTOMER AND THE CITY REGARDING SUCH CONNECTION. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF McCALL, IDAHO: Section 1: That Section 6-2-060, Connection, in Chapter 2, Water Service, of Title 6, Utility Services, of the McCall City Code is hereby REPEALED in its entirety. Section 2: That Section 6-2-060, Connection, in Chapter 2, Water Service, of Title 6, Utility Services, of the McCall City Code is hereby REENACTED as follows,to-wit: 6-2-060: Connection: Upon receipt of a public works permit and/or an application for utility service, a standard service connection shall be provided by the City to the customer. It shall be a minimum of three-quarter inch (3/4") nominal internal diameter, extending from the main to just inside the property line, or other location approved by the City. The customer shall be responsible for providing all necessary parts (i.e. tapping saddle, pipe, fittings, curb-stop, meter box, setter, meter, meter transceiver unit (MXU), electronic register (ECR), etc., equipment and labor necessary for trench excavation, backfill and roadway restoration associated with the water service connection. The City shall provide oversight and assembly of all parts necessary to construct the service to ensure that it meets the City and any regulatory installation requirements. Once constructed and approved by the City, the City shall maintain the service components from the City's main up to and including the meter and meter pit assembly. The service line from the meter to the residence,business, or other place of use shall be the responsibility of the customer. The principal provisions of the Ordinance • provide that a public works permit and/or an application for utility service shall accompany a request to the City for a standard service connection; that a connection shall be a minimum of three-quarter inch (3/a") nominal internal diameter, and shall extend from the main to just inside the property line, or other location approved by the City; that customer shall be responsible for providing all necessary parts, equipment and labor necessary for trench excavation, backfill and roadway restoration associated with the water service connection; and City shall provide oversight and assembly of all parts necessary to construct the service; that once constructed and approved by the City, the City shall maintain the service components from the main up to and including the meter and meter pit assembly; and that customer shall maintain the service line from the meter to the place of use. The Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication in accordance with Idaho law.
