CITY OF GREENCASTLE,INDIANA
A RESOLUTION CLARIFYING THE NAMING OF A PARTICULAR SECTION OF
10' STREET TO WARREN DRIVE IN HONOR OF MAYOR GERALD E. WARREN
WHEREAS, on March 12, 1991, the Common Council of the City of Greencastle paid
homage to the Honorable Gerald E. Warren, former Mayor and Second Ward Councilman by
changing the name of 10th Street to Warren Drive; and
WHEREAS, the present Common Council acknowledges the great vision and influence
Mayor Warren had on this community,benefitting future generations; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council wishes to clarify the location of Warren Drive by
withdrawing the name of 10th Street for a section from Indianapolis Road south to the Greencastle
city limits and renaming it Warren Drive.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE GREENCASTLE COMMON
COUNCIL removes the name 10th Street from Indianapolis Road south to the city limits and honors
Mayor Gerald E. Warren by naming that portion Warren Drive.

A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING 10TH STREET
IN HONOR OF MAYOR GERALD E. WARREN
WHEREAS, Gerald E. Warren devoted the past fifteen years
to serving the City of Greencastle as Councilman from the
• Second Ward, 1976-1979, as Mayor 1984-1987 , and as valued
advisor until his death on December 6, 1990; and
WHEREAS, he guided the City of Greencastle from a period
when the job of mayor was a part-time interest to the present,
when it is an intensely demanding, full-time occupation; and
WHEREAS, he calmly accepted the potentially devastating
• --news that the City of Greencastle's largest employer was
leaving and simultaneously laid the groundwork for its
remarkable economi7recovery, and
WHEREAS, he provided the vision for public works such as
the Southern Highway, which will benefit both present
:residents and future generations;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of
the City of Greencastle that in honor of Gerald E. Warren,
10th Street be formally designated as Warren Drive.
PASSED AND RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GREENCASTLE THIS 12TH DAY OF MARCH, 1991.
