CITY OF GREENCASTLE,INDIANA A RESOLUTION RENAMING THE PROPERTY KNOWN AS THE OLD INDUSTRIAL PARK TO ROKICKI COMMUNITY PARK WHEREAS, Michael W. Rokicki, affectionately known as Mr. Greencastle, passed away on August 21, 2003, creating a large vacancy within our community as a true public servant;and WHEREAS,Michael Rokicki sponsored every youth sport activity for more years than most parents can remember, as well as refereeing basketball and baseball games; and — h" WHEREAS, Michael spent countless hours with members of the Parks and Recreation Department brainstorming and sharing his thoughts in order to improve the quality of life in our community;and WHEREAS,Michael Rokicki saw the bright side of every situation and loved his fellow citizens,spending his entire life building the life for others. The motto"Service above Sell';is ague description of his life;and 4.4 WHEREAS, Michael's contributions to the Greencastle'`Parks and Recreation Department are too numerous to mention,just as the number of pens and pencils he left scattered throughout the community;and WHERS,Michael brought pride to his fellow citizens by receiving the Sagamore of the Wabash in 2002 and by being named the 2003 Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year; and 0 WHEREAS,with Michael's passing,the numerous Mike Rokicki State Farm Insurance signs will be removed and naming a park for him will help fill the void. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE GREENCASTLE COMMON COUNCIL salutes son, husband,father,friend,philanthropist and City Councilor Michael W.Rokicki by naming the property at the southeast corner of Veterans Memorial Highway and Zinc Mill Road(a/k/a Old Industrial Park) Rokicki Community Park.
