HomeMy Public PortalAbout1976-025RESOLUTION NO. 76--5- , CONCERNING CITIZEN LEAGUE STUDIES OF TAX BURDENS WHEREAS the Citizens League annually conducts a study of tax burdens on homes in various jurisdictions throughout the metro- politan area; and WHEREAS such studies do not show burdens imposed by special assessments; and WHEREAS failure to show those burdens creates a misleading impression of the true impacts of taxation for municipal services, in that some cities such as Minneapolis include in mill levies the charges that are levied separately as special assessments in other jurisdictions; and WHEREAS we believe including special assessments in the Citizens League studies would be well worth the additional efforts required, even if those efforts are substantial, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Medina City Council hereby cells upon the Citizens League to include representative burdens of special assessments in each municipality in its tax burden studies in order to help portray the true costs of providing; municipal services; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to the Citizens League and to other interested parties.
