HomeMy Public PortalAbout1976-033City of Medina 2052 County Road 24 Hamel, Minnesota 55340 RESOLUTION NO. 76--� , REGARDING METROPOLITAN SYSTEMS PLANS AND AID FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT PLANNING WHEREAS the City of Medina has done extensive citizen -planning toward a comprehensive plan and is nearing the position when such a plan should be submitted to the Metropolitan Council for its review; and WHEREAS it appears that such a plan must take into account systems statements from the Metropolitan Council which have yet to be for- warded to the City of Medina; and WHEREAS it appears that Medina will require professional planning assistance to revise its citizen planning efforts to bring a com- prehensive plan into conformance with metropolitan policies; and WHEREAS the City of Medina is lacking in funds to secure profes- sional planning assistance for work on its comprehensive plan and on implementing devices for that plan; and WHEREAS Medina taxpayers are already heavily burdened by taxes, partly in demand for urban services similar to those provided by such neighboring communities as Plymouth and Orono but without the means such as state highway aids available to those communities; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Medina City Council requests that the Metropolitan Council: 1. Provide the City of Medina with planning assistance funds for work on the City's comprehensive plan and necessary implementation devices; and 2. Provide the City of Medina with the appropriate systems state- ments upon which such a plan must be based. Passed by the Medina City Council this -� day of ��.Z, 1976. DONNA ROEHL WA YI NEDDERMEYER Clerk Mayor Member introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 76 -- 33 RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND ORDERING THE FERN STREET IMPROVEMENT WHEREAS, a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Medina adopted on the day of , 1975, fixed a date for a Council Hearing on the proposed improvement of Fern Street as it abuts Lot iPs,i �; 16,,,�Block , Independence Beach, Hennepin County, by improving said street with grading base and surfacing; and WHEREAS, 10 days published notice of the hearing through two weekly publications of the required notice was given, together with mailed notice thereof to all property owners in the assessment district as shown on the records of the Auditor of Hennepin County, and the hearing was held thereon on the 7th day of October, 1975, at which all persons desiring to be heard were given an opportunity to be heard thereon, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina: 1. Such improvement is hereby ordered and approved as proposed in the Council Resolution adopted on the day of , 1975; 2. Plans and specifications prepared by McCombs Knutson, the City Engineer, for such improvement pursuant to Council direction, a copy of which plans and specifications are attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference, are hereby approved and shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk; 3. The estimated cost of the said improvement being less than $5000. 00, the action of the City Engineer in obtaining quotations for the said improvement and the action of the City Council in authorizing the construction based upon said quotations are hereby approved and confirmed.
