REQUESTING THE CARTERET REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY TO ACQUIRE
CERT AlN REAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE WASHINGTON A VENUE
GREYFIELDS REDEVELOPMENT AREA
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret ("Borough") has
previously established the Washington Avenue Greyfields Redevelopment Area
('W AGRA"), pursuant to the criteria set forth in the New Jersey Redevelopment and
Housing Law, N.J.S.A. 40A: l2A-1 et seq. ("Redevelopment Law"), for being
determined to be an "area in need of redevelopment" as therein defined; and
WHEREAS, thereafter, the Borough, by ordinance, adopted a formal Redevelopment
Plan. for the W AGRA, also all in accordance with the applicable provisions of
Redevelopment Law; and
WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Plan for the W AGRA authorizes the acquisition of
ceI1ain parcels of real property located within the W AGRA in furtherance thereof; and
'WHEREAS, the following commonly known properties were so designated for
acquisition:
43-45 Washington Avenue
47 Washington Avenue
; and
WHEREAS, the Borough is desirous of having the Carteret Redevelopment Agency
("CARA") acquire said parcels in an amount not to exceed ONE MilLION
($1,000,000.00) DOLLARS, collectively; and
WHEREAS, CARA has certain redevelopment funds available, the same having been
deposited for the sole purposes of advancing the redevelopment goals and objectives of
the Borough in an amount sufficient to acquire the aforementioned properties.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey that CARA is hereby requested to
, acquire the above-referenced real properties within the W AGRA an amount not to
exceed ONE MILLION ($1,000,000.000) DOLLARS, collectively.
BE IT FUTHER RESOL VED, that a duly executed copy of this Resolution shall be
transmitted to CARA for action consistent herewith.
