RESOLUTION NO. 04 -4283
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMPLE CITY APPROVING THE MODIFICATION OF
PARKING CONTROL SIGNAGE AND CURB MARKINGS IN
THE AREA OF VARIOUS TEMPLE CITY SCHOOLS
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that persons who reside in specific residential
areas may be impacted by excess motor vehicle traffic and parking congestion; and,
WHEREAS, Division 11, Chapter 9, Section 22507, subsection "A" of the California
Vehicle Code authorizes local authorities to prohibit or restrict the stopping, parking, or standing
of vehicles on certain streets or portions thereof, during all or certain hours of the day; and,
WHEREAS, Staff has reviewed the conditions in the vicinity of various schools in the
corporate limits of the City and, after obtaining input from residents, school representatives, the
Las Angeles County Sheriffs Department, and the City's Traffic Engineer has proposed various
changes in traffic control devices to improve traffic circulation and provide adequate parking
opportunities for residents and visitors; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed traffic control signs and markings in the area of various
Temple City schools are consistent with all local, state and federal regulations.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple City hereby resolves as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to erect or install the following
signage or other appropriate markings at and around Temple City High School:
A. Move existing white curb markings and install "One Hour Parking 7:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m. Schooldays" signage on the north side of Lemon Avenue between Temple City
Boulevard and Oak Avenue.
B. Remove existing "No Parking 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Schooldays Only Except By
Special Permit" sign located on the north side of Lemon Avenue just west of Temple
City Boulevard from the existing signal pole.
C. Repaint the red curb to a white curb starting eastward from the school's parking lot
on Lemon Avenue, seventy -five (75) feet eastward along Lemon Avenue up to the
intersection of Lemon Avenue and Trelawney Avenue, and install "3 Minute Loading
Zone 7:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Schooldays."
SECTION 2. The City Manager is further authorized to erect or install the following
signage or other appropriate markings at and around Oak Avenue Intermediate School:
A. Install "STOP" signs at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Emperor Avenue; on the
northwest corner and southeast corner.
B. Install "3 Minute Loading Zone 7:30 a.m. -3:30 p.m. Schooldays" signage on Oak
Avenue in front of the Oak Avenue School.
C. Remove existing signage and Install "No Parking 7:30 a.m.- 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.-
3:30 p.m. Schooldays" signage on the 6500 block of Oak Avenue.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is further authorized to erect or install the following
signage or other appropriate markings at and around Longden Elementary School:
A. Remove existing signage and install "No Parking 7:30 a.m.- 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.-
3:30 p.m. Schooldays" on south side of Longden Avenue between Temple City
Boulevard and Primrose.
B. Remove existing signage and install "No Parking 7:30 a.m.- 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.-
3:30 p.m. Schooldays" and "1 Hour Parking 9:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. Schooldays" on the
south side of Longden Avenue (adjacent to Longden Elementary School).

C. Remove existing signage and install "No Parking 7:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Schooldays"
on the north side of Wendon Avenue (adjacent to Longden Elementary School).
D. Install "No Left Turn 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m- 3:30 p.m. Schooldays"
signage at the northeast corner and southeast corner of the intersection of Longden
Avenue and Primrose Avenue.
E. Reposition the limit line further south from the "STOP" sign on the southeast corner of
Primrose Avenue and Longden Avenue.
SECTION 4. The City Manager is further authorized to erect or install the following
signage or other appropriate markings at and around Cloverly Elementary School:
A. Install "No Left Turn" and "No Right Turn" signage on Broadway just east of Cloverly
Avenue.
SECTION 5. The City Manager is further authorized to erect or install the following
signage or other appropriate markings at and around LaRosa Elementary School:
A. Install "No Parking 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Schooldays" signage on the east side of the
5100 block of Alessandro Avenue.
B. Remove existing signage and install "3 Minute Loading Zone 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Schooldays" the west side of Alessandro Avenue just north of La Rosa Drive.
C. Remove existing signage and install "3 Minute Loading Zone 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Schooldays" on the south side of Pentland Avenue just west of Alessandro Avenue
(adjacent to La Rosa School).
SECTION 6. The City Manager is further authorized to erect or install the following
signage or other appropriate markings at and around Cleminson School:
A. Install a u No Parking Zone " in front of the fire hydrant located between 5210 -5214
Daleview Avenue (across from Cleminson School) extending 15 feet north of the
hydrant, and extending south approximately four (4) feet (to the beginning of the
driveway at 5210 Daleview Avenue.)
B. Remove existing signage and install "3 Minute Loading Zone 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Schooldays on the west side of Daleview Avenue (in front of Cleminson School).
C. Remove existing white curb marking on the south side of Freer Street just west of
Daleview Avenue.
SECTION 7. Violations of the parking restrictions imposed by this Resolution shall
subject violators to the sanctions provided in applicable Federal, State, and Local law, and the
City Manager (and his designates), the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, or any other
authorized law enforcement personnel, are hereby authorized to issue citations or take other
action to enforce this Resolution.
SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED on this 3rd day of August, 2004.
