To: Fraser Mayor, Board of Trustees, and Town of Fraser Staff
would like to take this opportunity to summarize my reasons for applying for the business
enhancement grant. I know I presented the overall plans at a previous board meeting and have
received innumerable positive comments from community members and visiting tourists on the
renderings I display. After some highlightq have attached the financial scope to support my
requests. I have spent time receiving multiple bids and have prepared a fair financial proposal.
I would like to express my excitement for the new proposed areas of development identified by
the 2017 downtown Fraser strategic plan. I am also thrilled about the EDAC economic
development policy approval. I want to be part of the excitement of Frodo, downtown Fraser,
and a riverwalk district. That being said, I plan on assisting in the recruitment of new developers
providing this expansion, but I also want to incorporate the beautiful history and art businesses
which already support the community.
When l bought the Crooked creek 8112 years ago, it moved me from a second homer to a full
time resident. My first "second home" was in Fraser in 1981. At that time I knew I would live
here permanently at some point. The Creek needed some love and my mission was to improve
it for the local residents. I believe I have succeeded but now I need to provide an external
facelift, I hope to draw in other areas of revenue. I believe in the fun and whimsical feel of
Fraser. I would like to include that with the historical. Chuck and Elsie Clayton started this
venture here and I always try to include that history in my growth. The interior reflects two
distinct differences all under one roof, now the exterior should also.
I am passionate about Fraser and the County. I support many local charities through
fundraisers, sponsorships, and donations. Rotary is held weekly at the Creekside Eatery and
attracts members from outside the area. I am big on conservation, recycling, and welcome
projects to reuse products. This will be evident in my exterior plans. I don't just want to paint
and place bandaids, but want to make this business ready for the future and continued growth.
By improving the face of the Creek, I foresee increased revenue, thus increased taxes to the
town. I would like to work with culinary schools to bring in new talent and culinary concepts. I
have already began this process but perception is an amazing influence. I would like to
increase the number of weddings. Before I purchased this, I don't believe a wedding was
thought of at the Creek. I have had three, along with numerous rehearsal dinners and wedding
after parties. I would like to increase the number of charity events that can be held at the
Creekside Eatery. And due to my additional training of culinary school, including that in Paris
and Parma Italy, wine training, and food and beverage management, I would like to hold
culinary events and wine events. By developing a more extensive wine selection I would also
like to be included in Wine Spectator publication, which would put Fraser in the national press.
How would your grant assist Fraser? I am open year round, every season, every holiday, day
and night. Therefore, monthly taxes with the improvements would only increase and would be
provided to the town monthly. This is also important for Year round staffing and staff retention.
have never missed a payment to staff, purveyors, government, banks, etc. The Crooked Creek
and Creekside Eatery support and market local businesses in every way possible. My staff often
appear to be travel and event guides to visitors. We also explain year round living here in the
wonderful valley with hopes of encouraging repeat visits or relocation.
Highlights to my request include:
The importance to differentiate the two side of the business. They often attract different
populations.
The concept of family, fun, and funky.
Creating more visibility through better lighting and signage.
A new modern logo. Rosie needs a facelift tool!
Attract tourists but also focus on the locals. Let's encourage those tourists to become a local.
Maintain some historical flavor, while embracing the artistic flair
A final comment I would like to include is that I believe I have proven myself to the community. I
am not going anywhere. I have relocated from my "second" home to a permanent home on
acreage with views, my dream.
"Eat Til it hurts, Drink till it feels better.
Laugh every day, dance when you get the chance!!
