No. 07 - 52 Date of Adoption Februaryl, 2007 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES WITH HATCH MOTT MACDONALD-2007 GENERAL SEWER/ENGINEERING SERVICES WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret is in need of specialized engineering services with regard to the 2007 General Sewer/Engineering Services; and WHEREAS, the Borough's Consulting Engineers, Hatch Mott MacDonald, possess the requisite skill and expertise to provide said services; and WHEREAS, Hatch Mott MacDonald has submitted a proposal to provide said engineering services at a total cost not to exceed $10,000.00; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have reviewed said proposal; and WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer has certified that funds are or will be available for said purpose. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough ofCarteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows: 1. The proposal from Hatch Mott MacDonald for General Sewer/Engineering Services for the calendar year 2007 at a total cost not to exceed $10,000.00 is hereby approved. 2. Annexed hereto is a copy of said proposal. 3. This action is approved as an award of a professional services contract and in accordance with the Borough's Fair and Open Process as authorized by law. Reiman Office of the Mayor Borough of Carteret Memorial Municipal Building 61 Cooke Avenue Carteret, New Jersey 07008 RE: Consulting Engineering Services Agreement for 2007 Dear Mayor Reiman: Hatch Mott MacDonald (HMM) looks forward to continuing to provide general consulting services to the Borough of Carteret in 2007. As you are aware, HMM can provide services in a variety of areas of expertise and is available to assist the Borough with tasks or projects on an as needed basis in a timely and effective manner. We maintain a staff of over 1,300 engineers, surveyors, scientists, technicians and support personnel to enable us to meet the needs of the Borough of Carteret. We are able to draw upon a depth of resources and expertise to provide a wide variety of engineering services including: civil and environmental engineering, computer services (including AutoCAD, GIS and Information Management), land surveying/GPS, tax map maintenance, construction observation, contracts preparation, cost estimation, design engineering and drafting, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, solid waste management, wastewater /sanitary engineering, storm water management, road, bridge and tunnel design, recreation facilities, coastal/marine engineering. Please find attached two (2) executed copies of our Agreement for Professional Engineering Services. This is a general consulting agreement for civil and environmental professional engineering consulting services during 2007. Upon the Borough's review and acceptance, please execute the Agreements and return one original to our office for our file. As noted in the Agreement, the Borough can continue to authorize HMM to proceed with projects or tasks under this agreement by issuing a verbal or written work order, purchase order or resolutIon. at i:13- Per our discussions with Mr. John DuPont, P.E., Director of Engineering, HMM would be pleased to serve as the Borough's Sewer Consultant concentrating on the sanitary and storm sewer systems within the Borough. We look forward to continuing to assist the Borough with compliance issues related to the Administrative, Consent Order with the NJDEP and to implement cost effective improvements to the Borough's sewer system-that will help reduce the Borough's sewer usage costs and prepare the Borough's system for the planned redevelopment program. Under tbis budget, we could respond any sewer related matters in the community by effectively working with John DuPont and other Borough departments and staff. Work would not be initiated without specific request from the Borough nor would this budget be exceeded without prior authorization from the Borough of Carteret.
