A RESOLUTION OF THE CITYCOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING
REALLOCATING. THE UNEXPENDED MONEYS FROM.FY 96-9T AB 3229 (BRULTE)' .
' THEREBY REDUCING THE SHERIFF OVERTIME BY $20,222 AND THE PART-TIME
LAW ENFORCEMENT LIAISON POSITION. BY $19,168 AND IN THEIR PLACE

' FROM AUGUST 4997 THRU DECEMBER 1997.
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 3229 directs the California State Controller to allocate $100,
million appropriated by the Legislature to counties and cities and certain especial district for the
'4 j support of the Citizen's Option. for Public Safety (COPS) Program; and

WHEREAS, funds allocated to cities must kie used for front line municipal police services
and must supplement and not supplant "existing funding for front line municipal police services;
and
WHEREAS, front lirie law enforcementservices include anti-gang and community crime
prevention programs; and
- WHEREAS, the City received $153,426.24 under AB 3229 in FY 96-97; and. ,
' - WHEREAS, the City Council at a Special Meeting on September 30, 1996,- approved to
. ~ appropriate the AB 3229 funds for the following items: (Item #1) Deputy Sheriff Bonus I
(Community Relations Team Leader-Deputy .Dave Haney) ($69,727); (Item #2) Overtime .for
Special Enforcement Patrol Cars {$58,604);, and (Item #3) L'aw Enforcement Liaison Part-Time
Position ($23,240) ;and ~ -
.WHEREAS, unexpended moneys totaling $39,390 _ from Overtime for .,Special
Enforcement Patrof Cars_ and Law Enforcement Liaison can help defray the cost in providing a
Community Relations Team Leader from August 1997 thru December 1997, and
.. WHEREAS, the Community Relations TeamLeader has been instrumental in furthering
-the City-'s community policing program. '
T--! NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE. ;CITY OF
I LYNWOOD, STATE OF.CALIFORNIA, DOES. HEREBY RESOLVE; DECLARE, DETERMINE
AND ORDER AS FOLLOW: -
SECTION 1. ,the City Councih authorize the reallocation of the unexpended moneys
. from FY :96-9Z AB 3229 (Brulte) thereby reducing the Sheriff Overtime by $20,222 and the Part-
Time Law Enforcement Liaison position by $19,168 and in their place providing $39,390 to pay for
y one (1) Community Relations Team Leader from August .1997 thru December 1997.
SECTION 2. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
