RESOLUTION NO. 05-4341
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE
CITY MEMORIALZING THE PERSONNEL ACTIONS OF THE MAY 9,
2005, BUDGET SESSION.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Temple City met on Monday, May 9, 2005, to review the
proposed Fiscal Year 2005 -2006 budget; and
WHEREAS, after careful review of the proposed budget, the City Council took prudent actions to
modify the city's budget and personnel table of organization; and
WHEREAS, in a May 9, 2005, report, the Director of Community Development recommended that
the City Council eliminate the "CDBG Program Administrator" and the "Business License and Permit
Specialist" positions from the city's table of organization for efficiency and economic reasons.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY, CALIFORNIA, DOES
RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The "CDBG Program Administrator" and the "Business License and Permit
Specialist" positions were eliminated from the city's table of organization, thereby terminating the
incumbent, but providing for a generous severance package, and reducing next year's budget by about
$100,000.
SECTION 2. All the consulting contracts with Mr. Bernard Gilpin (dba The Gilpin Company) were
terminated, reducing next year's budget by an estimated $100,000.
SECTION 3. Maintenance Superintendent, Chuck Erickson, was appointed on an interim basis as
Acting Public Services Director with a salary increase of an extra $500 per month.
SECTION 4. Senior Management Assistant, Gary Flod, was appointed to the position of Assistant
to the City Manager, with a salary increase of an additional $500 per month.
SECTION 5. These actions of the City Council became effective on May 10, 2005.
