The Street & Alley and the beater Works Committees . were asked to

in the new addition and also where the water lineswere to be laid.

Widmaier moved,Schulz seconded:To hire John Nelson as a Utility man
at 135.00 per month.Motion carried upon roll call.
Burrnan,moved,Burroughs seconded:To raise Mr.Smiths salary 2b.00 per
month.ot ion carried.
There was some talk of getting a day marshal but as there was none
available the matter was held over.
The question of getting the lley ru:.ring along t ye east side of
the England property opened up again was brought up and left to
Burman to contact the to n atty.Miller agreed to send the Jost.
The State sent an anaaysis of the hardne s of the water.
The Municipal league sent a book of the building code as used through-

Mayor Kurtz calied the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m.
Those present were:Burman,Burroughs, Robinson,Schulz,idm1aier &_ Wood.
The minutes of the calleu meeting of April 12 were reaa and approved
as oecateoted.
Atty Loutc`-ens gave his opinion about opiening the alley along
the east side of the Engla-la place,that the town having no use for it,
that they should leave the matter alone. Several Bonding Co.wrote
rote
about seiriral way to finance a sewer system.
Wiamaier who had been mset _ng ith th men interested in the water
drainage to the south of town,said teat it might be some time before
the matter was cleared up but that the matter vas being taken care
of and that the cost would be around 1600.
There was some more discussion about needing a day marshal.
Robinson r.oved,Burroughs seconded:To leave the hiring of a any marshal
to Widmaier the chairman of the police committee. otion carried.
Widmaier moved,Burroughs seconded:To approve the application of
Leeorge Simpson for a liquor license to sell liquor by the aririk pro-
viding that hecomplied with the state laws.Motion carried.
The clerk was to phone the Atty about what Simpson would have to
do. This matter was taken care Wand the Atty/said that he did not
have to advertise as it was an established business.
It was decided hat the bids for water main would have to be in by
Monday night May 8.
