AUTHORIZATION TO APPLY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2025
CREATIVE COMMUNITIES PARTNERSHIP GRANT
THROUGH THE VIRGINIA COMMISSION FOR THE ARTS
AND PROVIDING FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE GRANT
FUNDING AND TOWN MATCHING FUNDS TO CERTAIN
INDEPENDENT ART ORGANIZATIONS
WHEREAS, the Town Council is committed to supporting performing and visual
arts activities within the Town of Leesburg and the independent arts organizations that
sponsor these activities; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Commission for the Arts Creative Communities
Partnership Grant program will provide up to $4,500 in matching funds to local
governments in support of local arts activities; and
WHEREAS, the Town Manager's Proposed Fiscal Year 2025 Budget includes
$5,500 of matching funds for the Creative Communities Partnership Grant making a total of
$10,000 available for distribution; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg: Commission on Public Art solicited requests for funding
from local arts organizations; and
WHEREAS, the Commission reviewed the requests received and recommends
funding $10,000 in the following amounts to five (5) organizations: $6,000 to Friends of
Leesburg Public Arts, Inc., $1,000 to Arts for All Loudoun, $1,000 to Loudoun Ballet
Performing Arts Company, $1,000 to Loudoun Chorale, and $1,000 to Loudoun Lyric
Opera.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
that the Town Council authorizes Town staff to:

PROVIDING FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE GRANT
FUNDING AND TOWN MATCHING FUNDS TO CERTAIN
INDEPENDENT ART ORGANIZATIONS
1. Apply for a Creative Communities Partnership Grant from the Virginia
Commission for the Arts in the amount of $4,500.
2. If awarded the grant and with Town matching funds of $5,500 to distribute a total
of $10,000 to the organizations as follows as recommended by the Leesburg
Commission on Public Art: $6,000 to Friends of Leesburg Public Arts, Inc.,
$1,000 to Arts for All Loudoun, $1,000 to Loudoun Ballet Performing Arts
Company, $1,000 to Loudoun Chorale, and $1,000 to Loudoun Lyric Opera; and
3. In the event the Virginia Commission for the Arts does not award the Town a
Creative Communities Partnership Grant, or awards a grant amount of less than
$4,500, to distribute Town funds in the amount of $5,500 plus any grant funds
received to the organizations listed above proportionately.
