The Board of Appeals of the Town of Watertown
hereby gives notice that it has this day filed
in the office of the Town Clerk a copy of its
decision in the matter of the petition of
Margaret Elizabeth Cloherty of 14 Morse Street,
Watertown, Massachusetts requesting the Board
of Appeals of the Town of Watertown to issue
to her a permit to occupy and use as a professional
office for electrolysis treatments one room to
be utilized as waiting room and one room fox
treatment room the premises 14 Morse Street, Watertown,
Massachusetts,
For the reasons set forth in said decision the
Petition has been GRANTED,

Dear Sir:
This matter came on to be heard before the Board of Appeals
on Tuesday Evening, July 140 1970 in the Lower Hearing Room
in the Administration Building, Main Street, Watertown,
Massachusetts.
Due notice of the hearing was given to persons deemed affected
and publication had in a newspaper of general circulation in
Watertown.
Present andsitting were: Thomas J. McDermott, Chairman;
Salvatore Ciccarelli, Acting Clerk (Alternate Member; and
George K. Walker Jr. , Alternate Member.
MroCiccerelli read the petition of Margaret Elizabeth Cloherty
of 14 Morse Street, Wiertown, Massachusetts requesting the
Board of Appeals to issue to her a permit to occupy and use
as a professional office for electrolysis treatments, One
room to be utilized for treatment room, the premises 14 Morse
Street, Wkertown Massachusetts.
Margaret Elizabeth Cloherty of 14 Morse Street, Watertown,
Massachusetts appeared pro-se.
Mr. McDermott questioned just what her type of work includes.
According to Miss Cloherty it is permanent removal of hairs
from the body, moles, warts etc and treatments000she stated
this is done electrically.
Mr, McDermott questioned the requirements to do this type of
workoo.according to Miss Cloherty she is a registered
electrolysis, through the State.
The question was asked if there would be any structural
change to the dwelling000according to the petitioner there
would be noneo .00ne room would be used for an office and one
for a treatment room.

Mr, McDermott questioned the number of people she would have
at one time. o.according to the petit®oner not more than two (2).

The question was asked the length of time it would take for a
treatment.. -Miss Cloherty stated it varieso . .£rom one-half
to one hour, maybe two hours. She stated the maximum number
of people waiting at one time would be two (2)...she stated
the parking would be in thetdriveway.
Mr.McDermott questioned if there would be any additional
electrical installation required..oaccording toMiss Cloherty
there wouldn't and there wouldn't be any neighborhood
interference.
Mr. McDermott asked about the hours..eMiss Cloherty stated
she intends to operate Saturday's 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M....
the latest hours would be 9:0 to 10:00 P.M.
Mr. Walker questioned the number of cars that could be parked..
actor ding to the petitioner there will be parking for two
(2) cars.
MroWalker also asked what alterations would be necessary. The
petitioner stated there would be no exterior or interior
alterations necessary.
Miss Cloherty was questioned if she intends to erect a sign...
the petitioner stated she intends to have a non-illuminating
sign about 20" x 20".
Captain Kelly of the Fire Department had no objection to the
reiquest.
Mr.McCarthy of the Planning Board registered no objection.
Mr. McDermott declared the hearing closed.othe Board will taker:
the matter under advisement.
The Board of Appeals aft er due deliberation and consideration
of the evidence, a review of the pertinent provisionss of law
and by-law and taking a view of the premises and thelarea in
which they are located finds the facts to be as setiforth in
the record above and finds that the proposed site is appropriate
for use and occupation as professional office for electrolysis
treatment as proposed that such use and occupation will not
adversely affect the neighborhood that there will be no nuisance
or serious hazard to vehicles or pedestrians and that adequate
and appropriate facilities will be provided for the proper
operation of slid premises as and for said purpose.

WHEREFORE: The Board of Appeals
VOTE Unanimously that the petition herein for Special Permit
be and the same is hereby approved, and the Inspector of
Buildings of Watertown is hereby directed to issue to the
petitioner a Special Permit as requested.
