AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION TO THE NJDEP FOR
THE CREATION OF A BROWNFIELD DEVELOPMENT AREA
WITHIN THE BOROUGH OF CAR.J'ERET
WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection ("NJDEP")
permits municipalities to apply to it for designation of certain defined areas within the
municipality as Brownfield Development Areas ("BDA(s)"); and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret has with the assistance of its consultant, Excel
Enviromental Resources, Inc., considered the isslle and wishes to apply for a BDA
designation for the Chrome Waterfront Redevelopment Area.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Council of the Borough of
Carteret, County of Middlesex and State of New Jersey, that the Mayor, Clerk and other
appropriate municipal officials, are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to submit
the necessary application to NJDEP and, if approved, enter into a Brownfield
Development Area Memorandum of Understanding with NJDEP as required thereby.
