RESOLUTION 2008-1
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GREENCASTLE
SUPPORTING FOCUS THE NATION INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, global warming has immediate and future implications on our nation, state,
and city;
WHEREAS the City of Greencastle is committed to increasing the sustainability of the
community as a whole;
WHEREAS the City of Greencastle is taking steps to increase energy efficiency and to
decrease the carbon footprint of its municipal operations;
WHEREAS the City of Greencastle supports the efforts of DePauw University to
promote healthy and sustainable living amongst its students and faculty;
WHEREAS it is important to have an open dialogue between students, community
leaders, and local government on the issues surrounding climate change and whereas it is equally
important for the community to explore the possibility of forming a coalition for continuing
discussions about the environment and technology;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City of. Greencastle endorses the
communication and information sharing of Focus the Nation and the efforts of DePauw
#.1) University in providing a forum to discuss the topic of global warming in hopes of furthering the
goals of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
PASSED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at the
Regular Meeting this 24th day of January, 2008.
