RESOLUTION 2009-2
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE SUBMISSION OF AN ALCOA/CUF TREE
PLANTING PARTNERHIP GRANT APPLICATION
WHEREAS, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, in conjunction with ALCOA offers
grants for tree planting throughout the state of Indiana;
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle, through its Parks and Recreation Department is
interested in applying for a grant for the removal and replacement of certain trees within
Robe-Ann Park;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle, Indiana:
Section 1. That it hereby approves the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department
submitting a grant application for an ALCOA/CUF Tree Planting Partnership
Grant for the removal of six (6) Ash trees that are in decline and their
replacement with sixteen (16) new trees of varying species at Robe-Ann Park
and one tree at Tzouanakis Intermediate School.
Section 2. That the purpose of the grant is to replace trees that are not healthy with trees of
varying species in order to add variety to the spring, summer and fall colors in the
park, and to develop a tree guide brochure to offer students and other citizens a
self-guided tour of the differing trees in the park.
PASSED AND RESOLV the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its
