iir RESOLUTION OPPOSING CSX TRANSPORTATION'S RAILROAD SPEED LIMIT
INCREASE
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle has been informed by CSX Transportation that it intends to increase
the speed limit of train traffic within the Greencastle city limits from ten(10)miles per hour to twenty-five
(25)miles per hour;
WHEREAS,there are currently r.e($)n crossings within the City of Greencastle city limits;
WHEREAS,the Common Council of the City of Greencastle believes that the increased speed limit
presents a increased safety risk to pedestrian and vehicular traffic crossing the railroad tracks at the arte(9)
crossings throughout the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the city of Greencastle, Putnam
County, Indiana hereby opposes the actions being taken by CSX Transportation to increase the speed limit
of train traffic within the city limits of the City of Greencastle due to the associated safety risks involved.
