Clerk negula.r meeting 12+ October 7, 1952 uyor Mayor Kurtz called the meeting to order at 8:10 P.M. Burman, Burroughs, Galloway, Robinson (Sc 'v`ood present. w¢idmaier absent. The minutes of the regular meeting of September 2, and the culled meeting of September 12, were read and approved as read. It was reported that the sidewalk was repaired in front of the alien home. The two alley crossings behind the alien store had not been com- pleted at this time. The telephone franchise had been discussed with Mr. Stowe and he had asked if the town would rather have the phones, at the hall furnished, as they are now, or have 14 on business done by the Telephone Company. he said that the Company would like to have a 25 year franchise. 'i'his matter was tabled until all the members of the board would be at a meeting. The State Engineer said that the state was asking the town to paylo% of the cost of installing the R. R. gates, but as there was no provision made for this in the town budget, the board instructed the clerk to write to Mr. Bowers, and explain the condit- ion, of t'} e town not being able to pay this amount which is about 1450.00. Burman moved: Burroughs seconded: To refuse to pay 10,0 of the cost of installing the Railroad Gates. Motion carried. The County Assessor wrote that the town assessed valuation to be 901,780 and that the tux levy could not be more than 9.22 mills without authorization of the State Tax Commission. Burman moved: Galloway seconded: To adopt a tax levy of 9.22 mills for 1952. Motion carried.
